Q:I press it with my right index finger. Do you also or do you press it with your thumb? Which is the most common way?
Most people use their thumb but sometimes I'm all over the place
Q:What muscles are actually helping me bench press? triceps? biceps? and what else... How can it be the chest.... if it does not move at all or anything... Today there was some really skinny guy in the gym , and he was benching more than i could... So i thats why i am asking this... He did not had more muscles than me at all.... thanks
muscles involved in bench press: pectoral muscles (chest), triceps, anterior deltoid (shoulder), rotator cuff. the chest muscle is actually lengthening and contracting during this exercise and provides most of the power to push the weight up, away from your body. skinny dude could bench more than you because he's been working up to it. you will get there in time but his muscles are just stronger than yours. don't sweat it.
Q:I've been talking to this guy... I'm 14 and he is 16. I am a freshman and he is a junior. Recently my mom took my phone and read all of my messages with him. He's talked about some kind of dirty stuff with me. My Dad said that even though he isn't 18 he can still press charges if he wants to. Is this true?
No he can't press charges. There is no law that says you can't talk to a boy Lol hes not over 18 im pretty sure as long as its not 3 years or more its ok. he could press charges if you slept together because you're a minor and its illegal but its not illegal for you to be with this boy at all. I think he's just trying to scare you away from him by being a protective dad.
Q:I need to increase my bench press ill be playing varsty football next year so i need to get stronger i only bench press 205 once and i am 5 10 255. and im 15 years old
work on your chest and triceps mainly. to me the triceps are key to a good bench press, work them out together in a routine, like a chest and triceps workout one day, biceps and back the next, legs and shoulders the next, and then repeat, this will get you in complete shape, sounds like your a lineman so all of these muscle groups are important. hope this helps and good luck
Q:I am trying to become a Freelance Photographer and sell my photos to the local newspapers and other media organizations. I plan on taking pictures of crime scenes and different law enforcement / fire department events in my area.I've talked to a few people and they all told me that I would need a Press Pass. I am unsure as how to get one (I call the different newspapers and places like that and they say that they only issue them to their employees and are not for freelance photographers like myself). If I am a freelance photographer, do I really need one? If so, could I just create my own business and make my own press pass for that business?(I am in California, Los Angeles County)
When I was a newspaper reporter, we reporters used to laugh a bit at our friends asking us to get them a press pass. That was because, we felt, if you had to have a press pass, it wasn't going to do you much good. Yes, we all had press ID. But it was a point of pride not to use it -- just waltz up to the place or person and say, I'm from xyz news. How about that...(and ask your question.) But your situation is a bit different, I see. Okay, here's what some people in your situation (actually needing a press pass) did. We had a county press association, and when I was president, II made name cards for all the members -- even some who were freelancers like you. I think your idea of making yourself a news media with a blog is a good one. Print yourself up a card with your blog name on it, and your id for contacts -- name, phone#, email addy. I bet it would work -- make it _real_ official looking!
Q:Is it alright if I apply pressed powder or loose powder without using foundation/bb cream? Will it cover the pores and acne on my face?
No. Powder is used to set ur foundation not BE ur foundation. Wearing powder alone, it'll just get absorbed ny ur face every few hours and you'll have to keep reapplying. If u have acne then u do need a good foundation to cover that up cuz powder will only accentuate it. Stick to ur bby cream or and apply powder over that for a set look that should last for the majority of ur day.
Q:Not so long ago, the press was highly deferential to those in high office. For example, President Kennedy had numerous affairs, and the press knew about them, but did not report them to the public. Queen Mary, the grandmother of the present Queen, smoked cigarettes and died of lung cancer, but when she died, the cause of death was reported to be gastric problems. While most people knew that Franklin Roosevelt was crippled by polio, the press, most of the time, refrained from taking pictures of his withered legs. Then, all of a sudden, the press turns around. The Pentagon Papers are published. Princess Diana is hounded mercilessly. Walter Cronkite, who was the male equivalent to Jane Fonda, goes to Vietnam, misinterprets the results of the Tet offensive, and demoralizes the American people, thereby giving great aid and comfort to our enemy, North Vietnam. Oh, and don't forget Watergate, when the press hounded Nixon out of office. So what happened? When, where, and why did the press change like that?
I think 'turned traitor' is much too strong for this context. It is more a sign of changing times and technology and good manners. It is the job of the press to figure out things, and report this to the public. What you describe is what happened when left wing moralists got important enough jobs within the press to make moral judgments. Especially with regard to Cronkite and Watergate. Any information not fitting the popular image was filtered away. That continues until the day of today, and MUCH more in Europe than would be acceptable in the USA. But this attitude is a sword with two sides. It works just as well the other way. The environmentalists were the first to discover the powers of a free press on the Internet. Not the newspapers and the media, they behaved as required. The Internet changed almost everything. You know something was wrong, you could have told your friends, who probably agreed, maybe write a letter to the newspaper - which wouldn't be published. And that was all you could do. Now you see a politically correct item on an online newspaper with several thousand comments opposing the article. People carry pones with cameras and don't hesitate to place something on Youtube. Or open a web site or blog and report about it, with thousands of people responding to it. It used to be that the the left was able to muzzle the conservative voice. But no longer. When did the press turn traitor, as you describe it? About the time of the Vietnam war. Young left wing university graduates got jobs, and worked from there upwards. Not just in the USA, but even more so in Europe. The left progressive opinion took hold after the 1968 riots and became politically acceptable. Until very recent, they kept that power.
Q:i play football and my max on bench press is 190lbs
all these people can bench press but they dont know how and come on here and ask. it always sounds fishy to me. ADD Weight to the bar. it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure this out. there's no secret formula unless you want to take roids if your asking, m guessing you've never done a real bench press with actual free weights. Heres the formula to figure out you're real number if you even have tried to bench press 190 x .40= 76 76lbs. Yep, thats what you actually bench if anything
Q:Also, What role did they believe the free press would and should play in a democratic society?
Democracy is when The People govern themselves. In order for people to govern themselves, in order for democracy to work, you need certain conditions. You need people to be fairly well informed about what's going on, so they can make wise decisions in the voting booth. Meaning you need a high rate of literacy and also a free press and free speech. Our founding fathers realized this, so they made both part of the 1st Amendment. The press and the media have the job of keeping people informed, giving both sides of the story, providing unprejudiced, unbiased information. Lately they've been doing a pretty crappy job, partly because rich special interests realize that whoever controls the media controls the country.
Q:Im doing a Physics project, where I have been asked to create a hydraulic press. It must use pistons and syringes will not suffice. However finding the right guides to building such a thing has been a hassle. Anyone have any insight? Pictures demonstrating what needs to be done also would be of great help. Thanks!
I suggest that you go to google and search the image section for a basic hydraulic press, to get a 'view' of the simplicity and complexity of a presses,,,,,then attempt the following:: Build yourself a very strong(steel) rectangular framework... Then, using either a 'hydraulic bottle jack', or parts of a hydraulic car lift jack to be the pressing element. You need to attach the jack to one end of the rectangular framework, then as you apply hydraulic pressure(hand pumping the jack) the cylinder's rod will extend and press against the other end of the framework. This press can squeeze whatever you place between the rod and the end of the framework....modify as necessary to press something IN or OUT. This is a very basic beginning.....good luck ...If you have access to hydraulic and air cylinders, along with either high pressure oil pumps, or high pressure air supply, you can build a sophisticated unit, approaching a more realistic press.
