The working principle of the folding edit this paragraph
Centrifugal pump is a water pump is widely used in automotive engine. Its structure is made up of fixed cast iron shell and installed on the shaft of the rotation of the impeller.
Working principle of the centrifugal water pump:
Impeller blades is generally a radial or backward bending, the number is 6 ~ 8 pieces. When the impeller rotates, the water in the water pump is driven impeller, in under the action of centrifugal force, to the edge of the impeller thrown out, and then through the shell and the impeller into the tangent direction outlet pipe is pressed into the engine water jacket. At the same time, the impeller center of pressure is reduced, the water in the radiator and continuously into the pipes were eight absorption center part of the impeller, form the circulation flow.
Due to the centrifugal water pump has small size, large water yield, simple structure, once the water pump failure is still can not interfere with water in the cooling system of heat convection circulation work, etc, so it is widely used.

Q:I recently bought a 1992 Honda Accord. It has high mileage but the records kept on it were impecable up to about the last 3 years. I have read that you need to replace the timing belt/water pump every 80k miles. However; I do not know when it was changed last. The Only record in the book on the subject was back at 90k miles. That was the first time they had the timing belt changed. So How do I know its time to change it again? The car now has 199k miles. I do not want to do unnecessary work before time, however; I also know that the affects it will have on the engine is great if its not done within the right TIME! Is there anyway to know it needs to be done? What kind of signs will the car give? And how much is it going to cost me when it has to be done? Thanks!
A water pump is mostly pretty obvious when it is going/gone it chirps it squeaks and your temperature will usually be higher than it usually was [not always]. As for a timing belt... they are relatively inexpensive, the labor isnt that bad since the car is VERY easy to work on, and it is difficult to tell when one is needed since the most it will make is a whining noise when its getting weaker, only sometimes though. This is hard to hear too. Best advice I have is to just get a couple appraisals/estimates, or have a friend who is mechanically savvy take a look to see if he/she can tell if the belt is worn to the point where it needs replacing. I had a timing belt done for $120 parts and labor on a 91 accord (same car)
Q:1 water pump frequency converter constant pressure water supply wiring diagram
Light can not be seen in this picture, but also need to see the definition of the terminal on the practical manual, generally speaking, the three terminals are connected to +10V, public and analog signals / multi-function terminals.
Q:When should I replace my water pump ?
usually when leaking or noisy
Q:I'm just wondering where I should buy my new water pump for my 2.2 cavalier? Auto zone, carquest, checker? Does it matter which one? Thanks
You can buy your new water pump via Powamac, they are exceptional in services. They provide you pump which satisfy your needs completely.
Q:i am trying to set up a small aqaurium (about 25 gallons) and i am looking for a water pump that will flow water through the aquarium for a period of time and then shut off, and do that like every hour or so. is there such a thing? a water pump with a built in timer so its not running constanly but only every so often? it doesnt need to move alot of water, but i only want it to pump maybe once every hour. thanks for the help

Q:how much would they charge me to change a water pump on my 1999 cadillac deville
well.... if the fuel was pumping before it ran out of gas, it probably pumps still... the pump wont stop pumping just because it ran out of gas.. but... if you do run out of gas, you WILL get AIR in the lines, and it COULD keep the car from starting because of a bubble somewhere in the lines that won't allow fuel to pass. hard to explain. Diesels have this problem a lot more than EFI cars do, but it can still be an issue. try going out there and turning the key on and off about a dozen times, but not trying to START the car.. every time you turn the key, you should hear a mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm sound from the back of the car. that's your FUEL PUMP priming. if you DONT hear the humming sound (which does stop after about 2 seconds) then your fuel pump isn't working. let it prime a few times. when there is too much pressure, a separate line pushes fuel back to the tank.. it SHOULDNT be that big of a problem, but i'm not sure about that exact car.. i have a feeling it's a northstar v8 or something, and those are notorious for sucking donkey nuts.
Q:Help?Water is to be pumped to the top of a skyscraper. If the pump can create a gauge pressure (pressure above atmospheric pressure) of 8.50E+5 Pa, what is the height of the tallest building that it can service? DATA: g=9.8 m/s^2
IF the pump can produce a static pressure of 8.5e+5 Pa, then it can support a column of water, h h = P/(rho*g) = 8.5e+5/(1000*9.8) = 86.7 m h = 87m Now, the water will have no velocity, so you can't use it effectively, but that's not what the problem asks!
Q:Hello online mechanics! You guys have saved me a lot of money on my car, so now I have a new question! I have a 97 Ford Contour and lately since it's been cool in NJ, I've been hearing a tapping coming from the timing belt cover, but when the car warms up, there's no sound. I took the car to my mechanic and he says that I need to have the timing belt replaced, the pulleys adjusted, and the water pump changed. The price for doing the timing belt was $400 (including adjusting the pulleys) and $700 for the timing and the water pump. My question is ; do I need to do the water pump? He says that if you do the timing belt, that you should do the water pump too, but should I if there's nothing wrong with it ( as far as I know) and I'm not looking for the added expense? I thought if it ain't broke don't fix it still applies to things, or am I mistaken? Thanks guys gals! In these tough economic times, I'm not looking to spend any more than is necessary!
Hi if it was one of my customers i would recommend the water pump as in cases they have failed 500miles after the belt change.. especally on older cars 10yrz + its up to realy can you afford it are you weilling to gamble and pay the 700 anyway if it fails in the future...
Q:My old pump burned up so i recently replaced it (with a refurbished pump) I have new pipe to the pump, new tank. my pump is a 1/2 hp 230v pump, I also replaced the control box. With my pump plugged in and the water coming straight out of the pipe bypassing the tank when I turn the power on I will get water for a minute or so then I won't get water for a minute. This will keep happening. I have checked the switch and when I quit getting water there is still power going to the pump. any suggestions or ideas? bad wiring or bad pump?...I know that there is water in thew well, the pump is located at 100 ft of a 115 ft well and i can see the water level about 10 ft underground.
Immediately I would suspect the referbished pump is not working properly. Unfortunately you will have to take it out and test it under the same circumstances you describe, but complete the system so the pump has some pressure to work against. Just running the pump with minimal pressure might not reveal the problem. Under working load the pump might be over heating (just enough to open a bad coil) and cause it to shut down till the coil cooled and made temporary reconnection. Good luck. )
Q:My water pump keeps getting quite hot after each use. Everything seems to be working properly, except I think that the heat may cause it to burn out and that would cause a huge problem. My pump pulls water from a ground level water tank and pushes water up three flats to the part of my house used for living quarters. The pressure setting is set to cut out at 40psi and cut in at 25psi. What can I do myself before calling in expensive experts?
You need to be more clear.. is it the pump thats getting hot or is the motor that drives the pump. If its the motor, well that may be normal cause motors are made to work. depending on how old the motor is the windings in it may be losing their insulation. the more insulation is lost the hotter it will get and eventually come to the end of its life. If its the pump only getting hot then it could be that something got inside it and is causing it to run hot. Usually its some debris that got inside of it. If you can, open it up and inspect it. There are many types of pumps so which one you have i can not say but this should lead you to the source of the problem. Was there ever a time when the pump ran cooler or is this something you just discovered? It may be normal for it to run hot. Motors are workhorses and they just work.
