A very good foot valve will cost about $20 then it will be the cost of a service call, here we charge about $70 but depending on where you live, how deep the valve is and where its located the price maybe different, and the cost maybe more on a weekend too. Giving quotes for this is not really profitable for service companies, so if you are not prepared to do it yourself then you will have to pay the service call rate. A good reputable company will arrive at your home and give you an approximation on what it will cost, but remember once you call them there you will probably have to pay the service call rate, if you are running tight on money call around and ask the rates but remember that this is a weekend and most companies will be running a small crew and might take time to answer your call. The other option is since you have changed the pump yourself why not just change the foot valve your self? Have you primed the pump after replacement? To replace the valve the pipe that runs to the bottom of your well must be pulled up and the valve is on the bottom of it, its a simple matter of removing the old one and replacing with new the big job is usally the pulling up of the pipe.

With no offense meant at all to answer 1... I grew up without indoor plumbing on a farm. ALSO while this is to be functional it reads as if it's to be a demonstration of the process of lifting water by means of the action of a pump. I suggest certainly that it not strictly be a means for practical use IE: drinking; etc. Obviously you'd need a receptacle that will hold enough water to allow the pump to perform. A 5 gallon paint bucket could suffice perhaps. A platorm to bolt the pump head to, and perhaps some method of keeping it all from spilling over when eager students engage with it. I have never checked with HD or Lowes, but certainly online you'd get an answer rather quickly. Farm/Feed stores most definitely would have functional hand crank/lever, water pumps. Also often sold in RED or GREEN,,,smile. I'll assume you have a custodian/maintenance person/husbands/boyfriends/fathers/mothe... who would be happy to get involved and you could be pumping in less than an hour. Another thing that's good to do is disconnect the battery , plus be sure to check the quality and mixture of the coolant with a anti-freeze tester , also have a container handy so nothing falls on the ground bec anti-freeze is poison to animals if they drink it etc. Hope that helps and best of luck.

Q:I took my 04 Grand Prix to the mechanic for a coolant change. My car had never drip coolant until after the coolant change . I took my car today to the same mechanic and he told me that the problem was the water pump and wants to charge me 70 dollars. Could changing the coolant affect the water pump. Or did the mechanic damaged the water pump on purpose.

Changing coolant would not make it start leaking. MAYBE if someone before had used some sort of stop leak garbage, but that's pretty unlikely. That car has probably been around the block for some time, it's likely just coincidence. However, it shouldn't be hard to find one of your friends that can crawl under the car and confirm what the problem is. Could just be a loose hose clamp.

A horse and a half won't do much. You would be better off with a hydraulic ram type pump if you can get about a 10 or 15 foot fall before the ram. It will pump about 4 or 5 times the height of the fall, but in small quantities. It will run 24/7 without gasoline, so it will fill a tank over a long period of time. The railroads used them during the steam era when they had huge water towers out on the plains.

you didn't say what yr and model of car or truck..You can get a rebuilt water pump for about 30 to 50 dollars,according to make and model,thermostat about $8..now the kicker is getting someone to put it on..that is where the money comes in...so ,I say $60 tops... Its is easy to do,Do you have any friends or Family that knows anything about cars? If you do that is your best bet...I could have it in and out in 45 mins..Sorry..
