Q:what size grout joints for ceramic tile?
This Site Might Help You. RE: what size grout joints for ceramic tile? for diferent size tiles are there standard grout joint sizes
Q:Tiles are divided into several categories, respectively, which are?
According to the process points, can be divided into quintana brick, polished tiles, tiles, ceramic tiles, antique tiles, glazed tiles, in which tiles and polished tiles are all bricks. Polished tiles are divided into seepage tiles, powder, polycrystalline powder; polished tiles and Asian throw; According to the use of points, can be divided into inside and outside the wall tiles, indoor and outdoor tiles, square brick, supermarket bricks, pool tiles, etc. There are many kinds of tiles, the key is to see from which angle to points.
Q:A roof tile falls off the roof of a house. An observer inside the house notices that the tile took 0.2 s...?
Average velocity of tile in falling past window = 1.6/0.2 = 8m/s This is the instantaneous velocity of the tile half way down the window in time. This means that the tile had a velocity of 8m/s 0.1 sec after it reached the top of the window. How long does it take a falling body to attain velocity of 8m/s, v = u +at 8 = 0 + 9.8t t= 8/9.8 t = 0.816sec 0.816 - 0.1 = 0.716 seconds Therefore it reached the top of the window in 0.716 seconds. How far must the tile fall to attain a velocity of 0.716 sec? s = ut + ½*a*t² s = 0 + ½*9.8*0.716² s = 2.5m The tile fell from height 2.5m above the top of the window.
Q:Tile in a 3 season porch that gets very cold in the winter?
Hi, In the UK we have a floor covering which is similar to the wood effect laminate floor, it locks together and looks amazingly like 9x9 tiles. I put it in my bathroom and it is not as cold as tiles to the bare feet. It is a wood/paper based product but is waterproof for the normal house hold duty. I assume that the Minnesota winter will not make it too cold. Use a styrefoam underlay 2mm thick to prevent heat loss. this is a do it yourself job if you are handy with a saw, We know it as TILE LOK
Q:What is the basic role of tile glue?
1 to improve the working time and adjustable time; 2, to improve water retention to ensure that the cement hydration; 3, to improve the anti-vertical; 4, to improve workability (easy to build on the substrate, easy to push the tile into the adhesive ), 5, with a variety of substrates have a good adhesion, including concrete, plaster, stone, old tiles, PVC; 6, are in all types of climate conditions, have good deformability.
Q:Should I get porcelain tile for my kitchen?
I would highly recommend it (and Mike Holmes, the expert home builder on the DIY shows, also recommends porcelain). I had 12 sand-stone look porcelain tiles laid in my kitchen 3 years ago and I absolutely love the look and ease of cleaning. Mine are a reddish tan tone with a matter slightly textured surface that is not slippery. I had the installer use an almond tan sanded grout and then sealed the whole floor with two coats of sealer. It looks wonderfully elegant and is a snap to wipe up spills. If you are accustomed to vinyl flooring you will have to get used to the fact that anything you drop on porcelain is going to break (like a dish or a jar of tomato sauce) -- there is no bounce effect like with vinyl. But that is the only drawback. In fact, I like this flooring so much I plan to do my basement bathroom, den and outdoor porch in porcelain tile as well.
Q:Tile Cost: Any way to get it wholesale/lower cost?
You ll have trouble finding a lot in a 24x 24 tile wholesale/retail or other wise. These are a more pricey tile since the size alone makes them hard to handle, transport and produce. Your chance are better off in a 16x16 or 18x18 tiles because of getting that many you can pallet pricing and get a discount. Unless you have a builders license your not supposed to be able to buy them wholesale but you can get a deal in that quantity through your mom and pop flooring places. You may be able to find a deal at your discount places, but a lot of that tile is close out and discontinued tiles which I don t recommend when getting that amount.( may not be able to get more should you need it.) Q:Repairing Mosaic Mirror tiles?
I'm not sure if the tiles are individual, or part of a mat. Either way I wouldn't use a chisel because you could damage the surrounding tiles, you could loosen the backing (mirror finish) of the surrounding tiles, and you could even damage the backing the tile is attached to, especially if it's attached to drywall instead of backerboard. First you want to cut through any grout. You can buy a cheap blade for this, or if you have a dremel tool or something similar, they make inexpensive grout removal tips. If there isn't any grout, you'll need to cut through the webbing if the tiles came attached to each other. You can do this with a knife, box cutter etc... At this point the only thing holding the tile in will be the glue. At this point you can gently use a chisel to break the bond. Hold the chisel upside-down, so the back of the chisel faces you and the angle is against the wall. Some call this paring, basically it allows the chisel to ride across the surface cutting behind the tile. Using it the standard way will cause the chisel to dig into the drywall or backerboard. Hope this helps, e-mail with any questions, Alan
Q:Ceramic floor tiles for counter top?
yes you can use floor tiles, in fact floor tile are harder by their nature ( better clays, higher class rating, dense body structure and longer firing times ), make sure the top is properly prepared for tiles and as someone has mentioned are usally better off cut by wet saw. if you going for floor tiles try porcelian floor tiles extremely durable as they are thee most dense tiles out there offeric the best scratch resistance of any tile
Q:Do I need a vapor barrier when installing ceramic floor tile?
No vapor barrier required but clean the cement floor and seal it. If not level use thin-set to level out. Don't forget to seal your grout and tiles if directed by the manufacturer. This has to be done annually. Avoid harsh detergents as they will yellow your tile and follow manufacturer's directions on cleaning.
