Q:Bed Bugs: Consider using Diatomaceous earth. It is inexpensive, non-toxic and safe around any pets, humans and highly effective. I used it and actually found dead, dried up bed bugs around the house after I used it. You basically apply it around the foot of the beds from where the bed bugs can enter and also between layers, like between the bed frame and the mattress. Ideally use gloves when you apply since it can dry up your hands. Remember bed-bugs can live for months without feeding, so leave the powder for at least 2 months before you vacuum it off. A substitute for Diatomaceous earth is Boric powder, but I would recommend Diatomaceous earth. It can usually be found in pet stores or online (cheaper).

However bed bugs live in a different environment, namely inside your mattress (that's why they are called bed bugs). However this method of getting rid of bed bugs is almost illogical as most people do not infest their beds with red ants just to kill bed bugs.
