Q:recommendation of laminate flooring?
The brands I would consider top manufacturers are alphabetically, Armstrong, Mohawk, Pergo, Shaw
Q:Tile a 80sqft bathroom floor?
how much what? time will it take? tiles will it take? beers will it take?
Q:Changing a slate floor?
If its the gauged slate that is smooth and not a rough texture you can go over it with pad and carpet as normal. The tack strips will have to be glued and screwed into the sub floor. This will have to be treated as a slab or basement floor installation. Its possible to glue direct the carpet but the slate must be clean and solidly attached. Then you must treat the grout lines so the lines on t show through the carpet. Check all exterior doors to make sure you have clearances. Interior doors can be trimed down. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q:Oak Flooring to Concrete floor? Glue it down.. would ya?
never never glur it down to concrete. When you lay oak flooring you have to do several things. First you buy and bring home the flooring. You then have to open up each bundle of flooring so that air can get in.The rerason for doing this is that you have to let the flooring ajust to the heat and humidity in your home. It takes about 72 hours for this too happen. If you don't do thid you could have issues with shrinking, which leads us to why you never glue it to concrete. All woos real or synthetic will expand or contract with heat and humidity. If you glue the wood you may get cracking and spiltting as by glueing it you left no room for expasion or contraction. Always leave at least a 1/4 of space from walls when you install as to give the entire floor room to move, so that you don't get any buckleing. hope this helps
Q:White Painted Floor?
I have painted some floors in my time. They can hold up if done properly. Any floor gets dirty depending on any number of factors. If you choose to try it here is the answer I provided to a similar question . Sanding first is the best way to start. Make sure you vacuum with the brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner and then wipe with a tack cloth or a clean white cotton rag dampened with paint thinner or mineral spirits. If you cannot deal with the dust wiping with a deglosser will work (check your local hardware/paint store). As suggested an oil base primer is the next best step (although there are some quality latex primers on the market). A topcoat of either an oil base or latex floor and porch paint is recommended (they come in colors including white). The oil base will take the wear better. The latex finish will eventually wear down leaving an eggshell like finish. Some people prefer this look. If you use latex you can put a polyurethane clear coat over it to add durability. However, it will also make the floor slicker, much like wax. Be careful how you clean your floor. Paint normally takes thirty days to cure and should not be cleaned the first week. After one week a mild soap and water cleaning is alright. Solvent and abrasive cleaners should never be used.
Q:Pain a ceramic floor?
If it is glazed and hi-gloss you might have to use a de-surfacing compound (etching compound first), other than that, knock your self out!!
Q:What is the general use of the stool on the floor so that the floor does not spend?
My family has two children, their bench is plastic, you can buy a bench with a mat on the mat, you can also sell their own anti-wear pad, supermarkets have to sell
Q:concrete my living room floor?
there is a flooring product that is a 2 part epoxy and aquarium rock you mix the epoxy with the rock and you spread it out over your floor. you have to stay off the floor a minimum of 24 to 36 hours so the floor sets up and hardens. a lot of pool companies use is around the tops of pools, i've installed it a couple of times and it is awesome.
Q:Will this work for a floor?
Is the floor sound? ok to walk on etc., If yes just looks bad, then you can fill in cracks with wood putty not joint compound. then best/easy would be to prime/paint. they now make lots of paint for floors. also where do you live? is it moist, hot, dry, etc. that will need to be figured into type of paint. check with local hardware like ace or true value. if do not want to paint, you can stain, use wood putty in the same color or you can add stain to putty first, darkening putty, fill cracks, than stain all over. dont forget to use sealer after. good luck
Q:Do we get indoor floor lights that can be fixed to the floor?
Most any floor light can be fixed to the floor. The cautions: Is the home a rental? Are you on a concrete slab or a wood floor? Does the slab have hot water heat tubing embedded? You will be putting screws into the floor. Would your land lord allow it? A hot water embedded concrete slab can leak if you accidentally puncture one of the tubes. If all of the above are ok, here we go.............. Do you have access to wood working tools? ie. table saw, electric hand drill etc. Or a neighbor/ friend with? The base plates of the floor lamps could be drilled directly through the metal and then screwed down, this easiest. Can you live with this cosmetic damage to the light base? If not, decorative wooden blocks can be fabricated out of hardwood. Stained, clear coated, and or painted. You will want to table saw a rabbit notch about 3/4 inch to 1 inch long on one end of each block at a blade depth that is a little less than the thickness of the light base. This will help clamp the light base firmly to the floor when screwed down. Make three blocks for each light base. The tops of the blocks can be decoratively tapered and the edges rounded over with a router to give a pleasing profile to the finished product. Hope this helps. you can e-mail me through Yahoo Answers with additional questions.
