Q:My garage floor has settled and now an area of about 4' x 4' is about 1" lower than the rest of the floor. Can I use floor leveling compound on this? If so , what is the maximum depth for the compound? I will need it to be about 1" thick. Can I do this in one application or should I do it in 2 applications of 1/2" each? The part of the floor that settled will not have car traffic, just foot traffic, Thanks for your help
You can do it in one aplication, it would be better. With a chissel make small dents on the existing floor in case it's cement or concreet and that would make the leveling compound better.
Q:Have small bathroom that needs tile flooring replaced. Don't want large tiles because they show cracks when damaged and they are very obvious. Any genuinely serious recommendations as far as replacing the floor tiles with new floor tiles. Linoleum is not an option.
First off, in order to replace the tile floor that's there now, you're going to have to take the old tiles up off the floor. That can be a very tough job if they were laid properly. It will entail the use of a good hammer and a very good prybar, plus quite a bit of elbow grease. If the old floor comes up without seriously damaging the old subfloor, then you can clean up and start anew. That seldom ever happens. If you damage the subfloor while removing the old tiles, you'll have to replace the subfloor before you can lay new tiles. If you have to go that route, make sure you secure the floor to the floor joists, to make sure it's not going to flex when walked on. That's what makes tiles and grout crack. You'll need to chose the tiles you like, and the person who helps you should be able to suggest the proper grout for the tiles. Follow their advice and the job should come along nicely.
Q:Buy the floor to see what the general data, thank you friends.
Upstairs that is very detailed.
Q:Does anyone have any experience with painting a wood floor white? How did it come out and how long did it last? Did it get dirty very fast?
You would probably need to put an acrlyc sealer over the paint or polyurathene so it would not get scuffed up and dirty plus it would be easier to keep clean this way!
Q:My bathroom floor is currently covered with linoleum. I plan to strip the floor of this down to the sub-flooring (wood). What steps will I need to take to ceramic tile my bathroom floor? What things will I have to buy and in what order from start to finish to go from sub-floor to completed ceramic floor?Thanks!10 POINTS to the best answer!!!
Once the flooring is cleaned and ready to go. You ll need 1/2 cement board. My preference is Durock..Pre cut the Durock and lay into place. Cutting can be done with a hand cutter with a carbide tip or cut with a masonry saw blade (DUSTY!)..Dry fit the pcs, lift and sweep the area again. Spread a thin set with a 1/4 x 1/4 square notched trowel. Set board back into the thin set and walk on it all over. Nail down ( or screw) with 1 1/2 galvanized nails . Use nothing shorter.. 8 in the field and 3/4 along all the seams. Tape all joints with thin set and cement board tape ( this is different from dry wall tape.) Let floor dry 24 hrs.. You are ready to tile. Use the proper trowel for your tile. My recommendations are to use thin set and thin set only for tile setting. Starting from the middle, dry lay tiles out to the walls.. If you have a 1/2 tile or bigger , your good. If less than a 1/2 tile, readjust center of the tile to the center line, this will get you a better wall cut. Straight edges and tape measure to stay square is the best way to go. All this is in accordance with the Tile Council of America guide book, Along with the TCA guidelines. Any other specific questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q:then sea floor spreading into theory of plate tectonics
right here... i guess this might stump u... if we developed from monkeys... why do little ones come out like people... not monkeys... or why are there nevertheless monkeys... and the only resemblance is the palms and ft ( even there theirs are plenty hairier)
Q:could u build a stair case on top of the floor without messing the floor up?
yep where there is a will ther is a way. I do carpentry and ever-thing I do is perfect(and anything thats not there is always an easy fix) So for a floating floor that doesnt float of the steps scribe a pattern for each step and cut it tight and snap it in as for a finished look on the nose, rip your floor at a 45 using a laminte or solid surface blade(triple chip) then glue up your noses using exopy(epoxy is strong and fast drying) Once the tread is snaped in to place cut a lenght for your nose, apply exopy and then apply to the tread. Build a jig to apply square pressure keeping the nose from dropping or moving away from the tread and weight it down with all those books you aren't reading. Viola you have tigh fitting, nonslipping, glueless, laminate flooring. Oh yeah and if you dont want to spend the time to be a perfect carpenter just glue them, then when you are ready to pull them up come on yahoo answers and ask how to refinish a floor.
Q:I hate the tile in my kitchen but my Dad will not let me take it out. I was hoping for something quick and enexpensive. I came across cork flooring. Now..I figured the floating meant no adhesive. Has anybody applied this type of flooring on top of tile and did it work? Any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks!
Floating floors can be installed over tile as long as the tile is level and even. If the tiles are uneven then the floating floor will also be uneven and could crack at the joints, depending how it is made and just how uneven the floor below is. Cork is an excellent option for a kitchen, but make sure to apply a urethane clear-coat over it to seal the joints and prevent water from penetrating to the substrate material below the cork. The cork itself is resistant to mold and mildew and water damage, but the layers of the floating floor system below the cork are not, so do it properly so you won't be having to redo it again too soon. Good luck!
Q:What is the meaning of the floor price of the stock?
Floor price is to describe a very low price adjective
Q:I have an acid washed concrete floor in my business. I am having a problem with the floor being hazy/dirty after washing. The floor is waxed. When i clean the floor I use 2 buckets of water ... One with neutral floor cleaner and one clean water rinse bucket. After the floor dries it has a haze over it ... if i rub my fingers on the floor the haze goes away but my fingertips become black from the residue ... what can i do to get my floor back to clean ... i get so many compliments on the dirty floor and i cant imagine what they will say once it is really clean ... Any Help Would Be Appreciated ....Thank You
Sound like the cleaner you're using is leaving the residue. Try moping with water and vinegar and then a rinse.
