it would to reduce reliance on other sources of energy as solar is harnessed. It creates jobs for engineers and technicians. It has high initial cots, but is cheaper and stable in the long-run. Thus cost of production fall, AS curve shift downwards. Unemployment rate would fall as jobs are created. C rise. I rise.
Q:how effective & efficient are home made solar panels?
Building your own panels can be an interesting experiment, but if you are looking for solar panels to provide significant, consistent output, you should buy factory made ones. I get lots of calls from people who built their own panels and get a fraction of the advertised output from them. Plus, factory built panels will last 40 - 50 years, with a 25 year warranty, how sure are you that you can build something that can withstand the outdoors for that long? The price of panels has dropped a lot this year, plus with rebates and tax credits, it's getting more affordable.
Q:What does solar panel power?
Solar Panels have a large range of prices. You can get a 0W panel for approx. $00 to 200W solar panels at $2000 and beyond. You would want to figure out how much electric heat you use. Then from there, figure out how many solar panels it would take to compensate that. Q:why aren't solar panels for your house more affordable?
Depending on where you live, the combination of federal, state and city tax credits and rebates can offset the cost of solar panels substantially. Even so, unless you use a lot of electricity, it may take a few years for the panels to pay for themselves. You are essentially paying for your electricity in advance. The more you use and the more it costs per kW/hr, the quicker the cost will be offset by the savings. Don't install solar panels on a home you're renting or one that you will likely sell in the next few years. It's not practical to un-install them and move them to a new house. Energy conservation is the way to cut your enery bills with the lowest up front cost. If you haven't had an energy audit, see if your energy provider does them at low or no cost. Install timers on air conditioner thermostats. If you have electric water heating, have a timer installed on that as well. Water heating is one of the biggest energy wasters out there. Why keep the whole tank of water hot when you only use it in the morning to shower? If you have your heart set on having solar panels but can't afford the upfront cost, research the companies that do installations in your area. Some have lease and lease/purchase options now.
Q:Why are solar panels placed on the roof of houses?
The roof receives the most direct sunlight, and the more direct the sunlight the more electricity is produced. I've never seen solar panels located elsewhere on a house, but I have seen some placed in a yard or field.

the solar panel should state it, you dont need a inverter to charge, only to use the power from the cell.you do need an amp regulator, so it tells if the battery is on full charge and so the sun doesnt over power the battery through the solar panel

I do not have the skills to make my own solalr panles even if I want to try it. I see the answer above but cannot understand it. I bought my solar panels from OKorder and it works for me quite well.

The silicon ones(last 5 to 25 years) run about $4-$5 a watt the amorphous (thin film) a little less (may last 5-0 years). If you use megawatt hour (000 kilowatt hr) a month you will need at least 3000 watts minimum. Therefore if your electric is .0 per kilowatt hr( $00 per month) the payback is around 25 years once you add the batteries plus inverters(batteries $50-$00 each)(synchronous inverter $3000 to$20000)(ie $5.00/.0=50 months at optimum output).Figure (depending where you live) probably only 50% so break even is usualy about 20 yrs.Ie you pay 20 years electric bill and hope nothing breaks(insurance not included) then you can start saveing money.
