- Q:I tried to melt a thin sheet of copper outside today with a propane torch.After about 8 minutes it only discolored a bit, but didn‘t turn red. Does anyone know what I can do?
- Propane won't get hot enough to do that. You need a combination of oxygen and mapp gas (or acetylene) to achieve what you are trying to do.
- Q:Is the heat provided by a propane tank and nozzle as you‘d use to sweat copper pipe?Is there a different nozzle needed?
- Same burner tip is fine. Temps. are a little higher. MAPP gas torch or Acetylene would be better but it can be done.

- I don't know about the head gasket. They are a pretty vital part under alot of stress. For any gaskets that more or less are just there to seal the intake I'd use a tube of silicone gasket.
