- To add to Chris's answer there is a product called Lasertran that will allow you to transfer your photo onto anything. With a little paint thinner or acetone you can disolve the edges so it looks like it was printed on the surface.

- Instead of re-painting your tiles why not change the colour scheme by laying a new pattern? A tip for removing old tiles is to break them with a hammer in the centre and then remove the broken pieces from the centre out to the joins, this way you wont damage any tiles adjacent to them! You can try different patterns without gluing them down, until you find the best pattern that suits you. Good luck and have a great day!

- Pure copper does not react appreciably with pure dilute HCl. However in air copper quickly tarnishes, being covered by a black layer of copper oxide. If a tarnished copper plate is dipped into dil HCl the copper oxide will be removed quite quickly. Try dipping a tarnished copper coin into Coca Cola - the phosphoric acid will make the coin shiny. One way to cut patterns into a sheet of copper (as when making an electronic printed-circuit board) is to stand a copper-clad board in a mixture of Hydrogen peroxide with Hydrocloric acid.
