Q:True or False?Branch wiring from a 200A - 3 phase 4 wire panelboard.WIRE #PHASES 1 --- PHASE A 2 --- PHASE B 3 --- PHASE C 4 --- NEUTRAL - WHITE WIRE 5 --- PHASE A 6 --- PHASE B 7 --- PHASE C 8 --- NEUTRAL 9 --- GROUNDTOTAL OF 9 WIRES GOING TO SIX (6) 20A 120V CIRCUITS
False! If you had 6 120v circuits each circuit has 1 phase, 1 neutral conductor and 1 ground conductor for a total of 3 wires per circuit. 6 circuits times 3 conductors equals 18 wires. You don't use the same neutral conductor for different phases but you can if they are the same phase provided you don't go over the maximum allowed current rating for that wire and insulation.
Q:I have a buffalo tools 2000 watt generator i have been rebuilding. I have searched for a wiring diagram to help but no luck at all my question is about the wires that come out of the section that generates electricity. Outside of all the resets and switches coming right out of the back of the section that creates electricity has 6 wires coming out. Four are hooked to two different plugs two in each plug one set is red the other blue and the last two wires are separate black wires i would think are negative/ground wires i am looking to know what the red wires and blue wires actually are dc/ac volt i imagine just would like to know for sure don't want to blow anything up and help even guesses will be greatly appreciated.

Q:But when I look closely (you can't see it in the picture unfortunately) there are some tiny wisps of the coiled copper wire that looks as if it could have been connected to the pulled wire. I'm not sure. How do I connect the wires to make the headsets work again? If you guys need more pictures, please tell me.Thanks in advance!
i've worked in fine wires like this and it is very difficult, espeically if you thin kkyou wnat to solder them. also, yoj're correct, those pics are horrible, you need better ones if you want real answers here.
Q:The outlet box has 2 black wires capped together, 2 white wires capped together, 2 bare wires capped together, and a single red wire. The light fixture I want to install is a two bulb fixture that has 2 black wires, 2 white wires, and 1 bare wire.
The wires on your ceiling fixture are called ROMEX. This is the big casing that has two insulated wires and one bare wire. The bare wire is the ground. The romex coming into the box comes from the source and the other comes from the switch. Black is HOT coming into the box from the Romex that has only the black and white wires. To be sure about this, take the cover off the switch on the wall and see what wires are present there. This might show that a three way switch is installed somewhere if there is two switches that control that light. As far as the light fixture that you have, connect the two white wires and the two black wires together and then one of those pair goes to the white wires in the ceiling box and the other goes to the red wire.
Q:the ground wire came loose and touched the power wire for a second and created a big spark . the fuses aren't blown what else can i check or fix because the amp won't turn on now.
nan
Q:i have a black, red, and yellow wires in my trunk for a stereo system.i hear about this remote wire being blue (i have a sub/amp that needs a remote wire, ground, and battery) but i dont know which is which and where to put what.please help
ok hopefully you have a test light. take your test light and put in into a wire under your dash and see if the light comes on. if it does not turn your truck till it's in the run possition and see if the light come on. if it does tap into that wire for the amp turn on. remember you want no power when the truck is off and power when it's on or your battery will go dead when the truck sits! the red is battery the yellow is a key on power wire(you can use that one for the amp turn on if you wanted) and the black is ground.
Q:Or can stranded wire of the same gauge be subsitituted for solid wire without any consequences? The reason I ask is because its for a massive 4kJ capacitor discharge circuit, and I need all the energy delivered to the power coils im using, cant afford to have much leakage inductance.
You question about Inductance seems illogical. I can't imagine how a straight wire will affect a sudden discharge of current unless the wire is coiled (inductor) or have a shield attached to ground(capacitor). I believe the difference between the two wires are their direct current resistance which is very negligible if the wires are just a few feet long. The Capacitor that will discharge current directly to a coil is a 'tank circuit' and is a type of oscillator. Most likely, The inductance you will experience is caused by the power coil itself that feeds it back to the capacitor and vise versa. If that is true, I recommend a reverse shunt diode across the coil and a series diode between the capacitor and the coil.
Q:me and my friend were doing a circuit challenge and we did the same circuit but she used thicker wires. does it make a difference?
It depends on what the resistance of the rest of the circuit was. The resistance of relatively short lengths of really thin wire would be less than 2 ohms, probably less than 1 ohm. Thicker wire would be maybe 1/4 ohm. So only if the circuit's components were in the neighborhood of 25 ohms or less, would the difference in thin and thick wires have a real significant affect on the circuit.
Q:alright, 5 speakers with 4ohm svc, what would my wiring options be?
With 5 speakers there won't be a symmetral wiring pattern for even power distribution. With 4 it would be 2 pair in parallel with both sets in series for a 4 ohm final load or all 4 in parallel for a 1 ohm final load.
Q:A thin wire connected to a light bulb will have the bulb shine dimmer than a thicker wire. What is the scientific reasoning for this?
Thin wires are usually used to make heat because there is more resistance going through a thin wire. In an incandesent bulb 60% OF THE OUTPUT IS HEAT. If thee is thicker wire, more electrons go through and the light can be brighter.
