- Q:Why does a thin wire melt and a thick wire glow when put up to the terminals? Explain in terms of resistance and current. Thanks=]
- Sorry but that's not exactly the case. The thin wire actually burned thru because you exceeded it's ability to carry the current of the circuit that you connected to it. The thick wire glowed for the same reason. You probably have a short circuit in the device that the terminals are on. It would be impossible to address the resistance and current with the limited information that you have given us.
- Q:my light stopped working ( a chandalier ). It has brown wires, blue wires, red wires, beige wires, and white wires.
- How many lamps (bulbs) does it have? Larger chandeliers are capable of being switched on/off in layers (so you might have 3 switches for a 12-lamp fitting) All you can do is trace the coloured wires to each lampholder to ID live/neutrals (Multimeter with power OFF)
- Q:If someone were holding onto a high-voltage wire by both hands, why would his/her body have the same potential as the wire? How come his/her body would attain the same potential as the wire?
- No however the guy`s physique would be on a similar voltage skill because of the fact the intense voltage cord and as a result would be situation to arching off to any conductor this is related to floor and as a result inflicting intense present day to bypass during the guy`s physique inflicting electrocution. the guy would be risk-free putting directly to a single intense voltage cord as long as he would not come close to or touch yet another merchandise that conducts present day back to floor. If the cord breaks there will be an astonishing arch on the factor of the wreck and can maximum probably leads to burns intense sufficient to reason death to everybody clinging to the cord at that factor. in case you have survived as a result far then with the aid of all skill throw the cord you're clinging to as far away out of your physique as achieveable because of the fact with the coolest fortune you're having the cord you're conserving stands out as the warm edge of the wreck and you would be electrocuted as quickly as you attain the floor.
- Q:How do I connect a speaker wire with four wires (white, black, red, and green) to the back of speakers with only two connections (red and white)?
- You twist together the white and black together and the red and green to together, but you have to make sure this is done on both ends of the wire, I suppose you are taking about CL-4 wire for long runs inside walls? Actually that kind of speaker wire is suppose to be terminated at the wall with an in wall jack and then regular speaker wire is run from there to the speakers but you can really do it other ways, it just looks neater and you run less chance of damaging the wire.
- Q:Wire runs from breakers to a wall outlet along the garage wall
- Ok so the first two answers are almost correct. If the breaker is 20amp it's 12 gauge wire, if it's 15 amps it will be 14 gauge wire. The outlet is in a garage it must be a GFCI receptacle. That's a national electrical code requirement. If the wiring is to be exposed (ie not inside of a wall) then it must be in conduit, cheapest and easiest to install is pvc, you can run romex or NMB through conduit. If the wall is to be sheetrock when finished then you can run just romex through the studs. It is recommended that the GFCI receptacle be mounted in an extra deep box but is not required, makes it easier to get it in there with the wires. You can put up to 8 receptacles or devices, like light fixtures on one 20 amp circuit. More and you will be over loading the circuit. The romex you run should be for 20 amp 12-2 with ground. All circuits and devices must be grounded to be in compliance.
- Q:i bought a wiring kit off OKorder it was a bullz 4 gauge kit. and i am running a rockford 500.2 n its rated for 700+ watts. so do you think my cheaper wiring kit is affecting performance? should i go snag up some bigger power wire for more power to run through it or is tht not how it wokrs?
- if your wire is truly 4 gauge you will have no problems.the problem is some of the 'no name' wire companies over rate their wire.they will sell 6 or 8 gauge wire as 4 gauge. go to a car stereo shop and ask to see a piece of 4 gauge wire. if it way bigger than what you have you may want to upgrade.
- Q:I have a 3 wire source I want to connect it to a switch on/off and then make it 2 wire to the light
- A three wire source generally means hot (white or red), neutral (black) and ground (green). If that's the case, eliminate the ground wire. It's not as safe, but will let you hook up using the hot and nuetral wires.
- Q:how do i wire my sensor to my light
- The sensor is wired in-line. That means the wire coming from the source of electrical current is the starting point, the sensor IN wire hook to the same colored wires from the source wires, and the sensor OUT wires hook up to the same colored wires on the light. The sensor is now getting power, and passing it on to the light.
- Q:why do screen filters have wires with them?
- For Earthing to stop static Electricty, connect the wire to the Casing
- Q:THERMOSTAT WIRING
