Q:Purchase Steel - For Construction Purpose?
It has been a few years since I was in the business but I have found that some steel from some countries can be quite different from the standards steel made in the US. For instance, one in 5 of my Indian made cast iron fittings would break when tightening it down. This never happened with US fittings. Even though I could take it back and get a refund, the increased price of US made materials was worth the savings in time and trouble. On a job in Columbia, the 3 inch angle iron came to us in 4 different sizes, all around three inches but not quite. This is not to say that all foreign metal is bad. One RD project I headed up we found a foreign bearing steel to be far superior to anything we could get in the states.
Q:How is steel galvanized and why?
Steel can be galvinised by electroplating process. Galvinising means providing a zinc coating on steel surface. It protects the material from rusting and loosing the shinining.
Q:How can i make difference between iron and steel?
There are literally hundreds and hundreds of different commercial steel alloys and a good number of iron alloys so... it depends. Technically, steel is any alloy that is mostly Fe with some amount of carbon. Even if you have access to the necessary lab equipment, CTE (coef of thermal expansion) and specific heat are not very straight forward tests. There are, of course, chemical analysis instruments for measuring C content in steels so, if you really need to know, you can spend money at commercial lab that does these tests. One quick test to judge C content... touch the metal to a grinding wheel, higher C content produces more sparks. To calibrate the way this looks, compare the sparks from a drill bit (usually 1090 steel so 0.9 wt% C) to a steel nail (low C steel). Unfortunately, the difference in sparking between steels with pretty low C content and a piece of iron will not be very dramatic. Of course, iron might mean Cast Iron and, again, there are a good number of commercial cast iron alloys and there are 4 basic types of cast iron alloys and they contain high amounts of C.
Q:Steel Buildings!!!!!?
Yes of course they look nice and I think they are more durable and weather resistant than conventional concrete buildings. So if you are thinking of constructing a building then opt for steel buildings buddy :)
Q:Here is my dilemma, should I shoot steel case ammo in my ar15?
I would probably buy a box of 20 brass cased ones and shoot them first to see that the gun works if you really believe that steel cased/foreign ammo voids the warranty. That way you will know that the rifle is functional from the factory. My son has a Rem 700 SPS Varmint that has only fired handloads and there are a couple of other rifles that have never had a factory round in them and the manufacturers claim that hand loads void warranties too.
Q:AR-15 rounds - steel vs. brass?
Steel is a cheaper material than brass. Simple as that. Steel is harder than brass as well so it can cause wear on the chamber and bolt at a faster rate. What some places do it's not pure steel but they mix in other softer metals to make the casing softer so it's not as much as issue as people make it out to be. People tend to dislike steel cased ammo as well due to it running dirtier and the coating on the casing gumming up the insides. But these people from my experience do not clean their guns. Ever. And then when they start to act up they wonder why.
Q:Steel pipe info please...?
sophisticated thing. browse in google. this can help!
Q:ceramic vs stainless steel headers HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for a 98 civic?
This Site Might Help You. RE: ceramic vs stainless steel headers HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for a 98 civic? what is the differance between ceramic and stainless steel headers and 4-2-1 and 4-1 and which are better for racing and should i get ceramic or stainless steel headers?? for a 98 civic
Q:Vegan ANSI Steel Toes?
Vegan okorder.com/... I don't know if they're ANSI shoes, so you might want to ask.
Q:Why buy recycled steel?
Where you buy all your steel. The recycled and new steel are indistinguishable from each other. You won't recognize the one from the other. Same thing with glass. A certain percentage must be used glass, to enhance the quality of the total batch. Peace.
