Q:Stainless steel ring?
go with silver its cheap but not as bad as steel
Q:Steel braided fuel, air, and coolant lines?
Very good idea depending on the application. The steel braid reinforces the rubber to make it withstands pressure. Example, pressure side of power steering pump is reinforced, the return side doesn't usually need to be. Carbed cars usually run around 3-7 lbs on fuel line so no need, fuel injected cars run roughly 45 psi and up usually so those are braided.
Q:Where can I get a steel taper kit?

Q:can i heat treat and temper ASTM A36 steel?
A36 is plain carbon structural steel. A36 could almost be considered junk steel. It is not suitable for cutting tools in any respect, as it is far to soft to hold an edge. A36 generally cannot be heat-treated, A36 can only be strengthened by cold-working, and even then, only up to about 60,000 psi. Heating the steel will only make it softer. The only real virtue of A36 is that it's easy to work with, it's easily cut and machined and it is very easy to weld. This is good for making steel structure, but not for knives. Probably the most popular material for knife blades is type 440C stainless. 440C is easy to work with in the un-treated state, and the heat treatment procedure is relatively simple.
Q:low density steel?
1. A method has been developed for magnetic phase analysis of Fermanal type alloys as-quenched and after aging. 2. The upper limit of alloying to ensure the optimal mechanical properties was determined more precisely for steel 9G28Yu9MVB. For rods aged at 550°C for 16 h the aluminum content should not exceed 9.2% and the carbon content 0.92%. 3. To ensure the optimal mechanical properties of the deformed metal it is necessary to obtain a fine-grained single-phase austenitic structure after quenching. The amount of hardening phase after quenching should not exceed 15–20% (saturation magnetization around 1600 G).
Q:Steel String for Classical?
Guitars built for either nylon or steel strings are constructed differently. You will have problems putting nylon strings on a steel stringed guitar and visa verse. I say NEITHER is a good idea. If I were in your shoes, I would walk on line or to a guitar store and purchase a nylon stringed guitar. That's what I did years ago and now I am hooked. I got a second hand Takamine A/E that work just fine for a couple hundred and then just a yr or so ago I got a brand new one, an EC132C and I just LOVE it. As my skills improve I plan on upgrading to a custom built acoustic only with a cutaway. I like cutaways but not the electronics. I never plug into my amp hardly at all. Yamaha makes nylon guitars too VERY cheap and real good tonal quality, I was VERY impressed with one that I played. I upgraded my tuners on my new Takamine to Schaller 16:1 and put the old Takamine tuners on that Yamaha and it's a really nice little guitar to kick around on when I am at that person's place.
Q:what is the difference between white steel and blue steel in reference to sushi knives?
This Site Might Help You. RE: what is the difference between white steel and blue steel in reference to sushi knives? looking to buy a sashimi knife. what is the difference between white steel (1and2) and blue steel (1and2) in terms on characteristics. what gets sharper? what holds edge longer? basically any info on the pros and cons of each steel would be SO GREATLY APPRECIATED! thanks in advance to all who...
Q:which is heavier: concrete or steel?

Q:Steel Fabrication?

Q:Chemical difference between steel & stainless steel?
There are many things in life that I wonder about. Being in the steel industry and selling stainless steel I have at one point in my life asked myself, why do they call it stainless steel? What makes it stainless? It doesn't take much to find out but here is a very brief synopsis of what makes stainless steel stainless so that you can check one more thing off the list in your quest for knowledge. Stainless Steel might or might not have been invented by a man named Harry Brearley in 1912. Steel has been around for hundreds of years but it hasn't always been stainless. Only after the exact combination of elements had been achieved did we start calling a certain type of steel stainless. His magic potion contained the keys to what is now called stainless steel. That being said, the true inventor of stainless is still an ambiguous cloud at best. However, this isn't a discussion on WHO invented stainless but what stainless is and how it's actually stainless. Here is a great article posted by British Stainless Steel Association in regards to the history of stainless as a whole, see here. So what is in this magic potion that makes a steel not stain or rust? As most of us know if you leave regular steel or metal out in the elements it will rust, oxidize, or stain. Why does stainless not stain? When Harry Brearley Brearley created a steel with 12.8% chromium and 0.24% carbon, that was believed to be the first ever stainless steel. Chromium is the element in stainless that improves the corrosion resistance by forming a chromium oxide film on the steel. This very thin layer, is what allows the steel to be impermeable to rust or staining and when placed under the right conditions, it can also be self-repairing to a certain extent. There you have it. The answer is Chromium. Chromium is the element when mixed w/other elements in the proper amounts to form the thin layer that protects the steel from rusting, staining or corroding. Hope that helps you in your pursuit of knowledge.
