Q:I'm changing from a white sink to a SS kitchen sink. The faucet is shiny chrome. The sink has more of a dull brushed finish. Should I get a new faucet or do you think it will look fine? Any answers appreciated, especially if you have done this yourself! :)

if you aren't sure if it actually is brass i'm not sure how well of a job it will do in polishing it. Basically most polishes work by rubbing off the oxide that has formed. I'm not sure how brasso wil react with non-brass metals, the same way iwouldn't polish sterling silver with brasso. if anything might i suggest some sort of home concoction? I Think vinegar was something peoples used as polishing. It has an acidic property to help remove the oxide, but no chemicals to worry about that might mingle with the metal. I don't recall what else they mix with the vinegar. You can just google "home made polish" I'm sure it'llg ive you a list of them Well good luck with your fixtures.

Q:I would like to give a sink and faucet the appearance of having plumbing for display purposes. Is it possible to use a fountain mechanism to create that effect. I'd like to be able to turn a handle and have the water flow, then drain back down into a basin to be pumped through continuously if left on. but able to be shut off by simply turning the handle back to the off position.

Yes you can. I use old T.V. dishes that get tossed out all the time. I use them as step fountains, very nice in the garden.

Basin can not, but you can find where the next triangle valve, and then the root hose then a washing machine faucet

Because you'll NEVER get a standard wrench up in there (I've tried, trust me), you'll have to pick up a cheap basin wrench at your local hardware store. See below link for pic.

Q:Hi all, I currently have a moen faucet set 3 piece set model 4570 in my bathroom.. My daughter being fearfull that she didn't want the faucet to drip has now turned the cold lever all the way back until now the handle rotates without shuting the water off. I believe I have to replace the stem inside the handle but I can't remove it off the base of the sink. I can't loosen the locking nut underneath the sink either (even with trying to use basin wrench).. I saw the installation instructions online and from the diagram it shows I can acutally remove the hub from the top by holding the handle and twisting the hub if the opposite direction, but this thing won't bulge. what should I do?

unhook all the plumbing fron underneath. Take the whole sink off the vanity and tackle it that way. It is pretty tough sometimes to get the necessary leverage when trying to access everything from underneath. Might be a bit more labor intensive but it will certainly save you some busted knuckles and bruises on your head.
