Q:hiI have very low pressure only on the hot water in my kitchen sink. Cold water is fine. Can anyone recommend a water pump/power shower i can use for boosting my hot water in the kitchen sink tap?Ive already tested the faucet by swapping the water supplies.thanks
To determine if it's the water system or the faucet, turn off the hot water supply valve and remove the supply line from the faucet (or remove it from the spigot on the wall and use a spare supply line). Turn the water on full and direct the water into a bucket to determine the flowrate (like you did earlier from the tap). Now repeat with the cold spigot. Did you get the same amount of water over the same amount of time (same flowrate)? If so, there's something wrong with the faucet, and it needs to be repaired or replaced. If not, you likely have some restriction in your hot water system, which could be the supply valve itself. Or it could be something anywhere from the water heater to that spigot. Next you would have to do something similar (measuring the flowrate) at various faucets in your house (including a bath/shower) to see if it's a house-wide problem or just local to that kitchen faucet. One thing that does happen in hot water systems is that debris from scale buildup in the water heater can be flushed out into the pipes and create restrictions in the valves that could affect flowrate.
Q:We bought a second hand Rover 75, three months later head gasket blew. This was replaced but blew again due to original wet liners. A reconditioned engine was then put in but head gasket blew again due to original water pump. I am not trying to ascertain blame i would just like to know which is accurate as car seller is saying fault of mechanic as should have changed wet liners and water pump and mechanic is saying it is not common practice to change this parts when you replace a head gasket or engine. Thanks for any clarification, especially if you are a mechanic yourself.
Well the answer is..... I am going to take a guess that this is a Rover K series engine. They blow the head gasket just for something to do. Terrible problem when the engine was a 1.4 and it only got worse as they bored the engines out. The original fault will be poor maintenance and a failure to ensure it always has loads of anti freeze or corrosion inhibitor in there. That makes the liner to block interface corrode. The second is more controversial, if I knew the water pump was fairly new then I would probably not fit a new one with an exchange engine. If however the water pump was old or an unknown quantity then I would almost certainly change it, and the clutch too, if I had the engine out as it's such a fiddly job to do. BUT who was paying for the work? If it was you then this would have added a fair bit to the bill (if you didn't tell him to change it then really you can't complain that he didn't do it) and it it was warranty work then the terms of the warranty might set out what was supposed to be done. Q:as i asked before in my question what needs to be fixed when a water pump goes bad. so finally it went bad today the car leaked all coolant and for some reason all the blades on the fan broke and the battery light came on. which is connected to the alternator belt so thats not the problem. so now does anybody have any idea how much it would cost to fix and by what i know it needs a new belt for water pump and new fan and water pump etc. taking it to mechanic monday but wanna get an estimate first from u people. any ideass thanks
Mate you need to have a look under the thermastat housing on the front of the block remove the fresh air pick up and use a small mirror and light they can warp because they are plastic. You will notice a crusty stain. (This has happened to me) also the reservoir which you fill up can leak from small high pressues leaks to also dont over fill these bad boys as they dont have a over flow. best to get a mechanic to pressure test the cooling system to idenify the leak. as they are expensive to repair once they are really broken.
Q:Hi there: my water pump is leaking, and my coolant lelel keeps droping, same problem. Im not sure if coolant flows through the water pump?
It sure does. That's what gets coolant from the radiator into the engine. Water pumps are a little weird. Sometimes you just get a dud, sometimes the one in your car never ever quits. I've got one of the latter, my dad went through about five of the former (on one car). Check your manual. If the pump isn't built into the block, it may be pretty simple to switch it out for yourself. If it's an inside-the-block kind, I'd recommend letting the shop do it. Replace all the old gaskets with new ones. Be sure to scrape off every bit of the old gasket, torque the bolts to the correct level, drive it for a few hours and torque them again. Happy motoring!
Q:What is the water pump population pre rotation, what harm?
Is the entrance of water flow in the formation of complex turbulent flow, flow direction, shock, vibration, easy to damage the front entrance device, such as vane impeller, shaft sleeve, sealing element.
Q:How do I replace the water pump on a 1996 Mercury 200 hp outboard engine? I have the parts, but want to make sure I replace it correctly. Thanks!
I strongly suggest that you purchase the Bible at a local outboard shop, it has exploded views and good directions, as well as tips, even if you don't know a lot about engine's it will educate you about YOUR engine, just thumb through it, the water pump change out directions are very good !
Q:What does water pump mean?
A device that applies power to a liquid and transfers it to where it is needed.
Q:What is a 1 inch water pump?
The outlet is 1 inches (25MM) of the water pump
Q:I installed a new water pump on a Cherokee straight-6 engine, the upper radiator hose is not heating up and the engine is starting to make a funny noise. The thermostat is new and was working fine before. The coolant reservoir is full and no more coolant will drain to radiator / engine. Anyone know why waterpump is not circulating coolant?
Those engines are the worst I have come across to burp the air out of. I finally had to remove the heater hose and back fill the system with a quart squeeze bottle. You will find that a sport tipped water bottle filled with 50/50 mix coolant will get the air out. later I found that if I cut the heater hose in half and installed a flush tee it worked even better, so far it has been the only way I have been able to purge the system. Good Luck
Q:Is it a good idea to turn my pond water pump off at night and back on during the day to lower my electricity bill?
