Not less than 1.0 horse power pump is needed to lift water from 100 ft down. But, if you want some more power, you need not get more than 1.5 H.P. in any case.
Q:How to check a water pump on a 1998 Dodge Dakota V6?
check for leaks in the system, the water pump may show signs of leaks or perhap even make a noise, flush out the radiator, it may be stopped up preventing good circulation, make sure thermostat is installed properly, if there is no signs of leaking,or no noise such a a bad bearing, or water pump not loose when you try to shake it, most likely I would change out the heater core.. and also replace the radiator cap so the system is properly pressurized.

true. is this hot water heater and pump? rarely do both go bad at once. A hot water heater is 2-300 and install is maybe 150. get an HVAC tech for an opinion. don't take one person's word for anything in which they stand to make a profit.

never, ever run it dry. Make sure there is enough water in it, especially when you first put everything back together. Massage the hoses and keep filling it. Try to get all the air bubbles out before you start it. A bad water pump quickly, very quickly, leads to a bad head gasket. So a $300 job turns into a $1200 job in a matter of minutes.
Q:Blown head gasket or water pump?
Most likely it is the water pump... Probably leaking from the weep hole at the bottom of the pump and coolant is running down the lower hose. Head gaskets blowing on a small block Chevy is pretty rare unless you have ran it HOT!, which you have said you have not done. Use an inspection mirror and look under the pump just behind the pulley and see if the coolant is coming out of the weep hole. Small block Chevy water pump is inexpensive to buy.. Good luck

The inverter has a certain amount of loss. How good it does the job of converting dc to ac is know as it's efficency. Lets use 90% to be safe) 300 watts / 0.90 = 333.4 watts, use this for 1/2 hour per day 333.4w x 0.5hr = 166.7 watt hours The 90 watt hours + the 167 watt hours = 257 watt hours per day. This would leave about 140 watt hours to put into the battery. Yes it would be best to use a charge controller to protect the battery from overcharging if the pump and fan are off, or from draining the battery too much if the fan or pump stays on.
Q:Coolant leaking had water pump replaced 4 days ago?
The pump may have indeed been bad. Did the shop put on the new pump or did you do it yourself? If it was done by the shop, take it back and make them fix it correctly. You have already paid them for the work. If you did it yourself, it should be fairly easy to spot where the leak is coming from. It is also rare but possible that the pump you put on was bad out of the box from the parts store. Not likely...but slim possibility. Hopefully it is just a loose clamp or hose.
Q:cost of fixing thermostat or water pump?
Like most answerer's, I agree. The task is easy if it is the thermostat that is the prob. You could even do this yourself, if you are so inclined. But if it is the water pump, though the part may not cost much (depending on make and model of vehicle), almost the whole front of the engine will need to be removed to get to the water pump. No matter who does the work for you, also ask them to look at your radiator hoses (top and bottom), too. Many times, when a thermostat has stuck or a water pump has failed, the hoses get stressed and if they're not at least looked at, and ok'd...could be the cause of your next problem. Another thing to have checked is all your belts. Most vehicles nowadays have only one belt (serpentine belt) that runs everything, older vehicles have a few belts. All of these belts will have to be removed if the water pump is replaced, so have them looked at when they are off the vehicle, just in case. Talk you your friends to find someone who could do the repairs for you, either a shop or a shade tree mechanic. The whole job shouldn't take more than an hour or two, depending on vehicle and ability of mechanic. Sorry we're not local or it would have been fixed already.
