Q:what can i use in place of Ball bearings?
Q:should i loosen trucks or bearings!?!?
Q:Can you soak bearings in canola oil??
You can soak anything in anything. The question is whether you should or not. In the case of steel bearings, they don't soak. They sit in whatever you put them in and are coated by it. My guess is that no food oil is going to be good for bearings used in machinery. Unless you intend to 'cook' them...and you will.
Q:What makes wheel bearings/hubs wear out? 1998 Chevrolet Malibu hubs going bad after eight months!?
Q:97 Prelude. What happens when the bearings and drive shaft go bad? How long before I have to replace?
Very unusual for front wheel bearing to fail. Why did you say drive shaft earlier? The car has CV axles that act like drive shafts. If one fails, you are going to have to have a tow. Jack up the car on one side then the other. Look for a shaft that goes to the wheel from the trans axle. There should be 2 boots per axle. If the boots crack they will be covered with dirt and grease. This will eventually precipitate the universal joint within the boot to fail and break. On wheel bearings, if they are bad, you may or may not be able to drive the car until one of them seizes. Then you will need a tow. Maybe you should get used to using public transportation. Either way, you are going to have to get your problem fixed. It's like my wife. Her Honda needs both CV axles, a timing chain and ball joints on both sides. I want her to drive my 89 Pontiac until I can fix her Honda, but she complains that she doesn't like the gas mileage on the Pontiac. I told her, what does it matter? She has three things that are eventually going to drop her in the middle of the freeway and maybe getting run over by a semi truck. I plan on sabotaging her Honda so she if forced to use the Pontiac. Don't get yourself stuck out on a limb. Either park the Honda and get on public transportation or get it fixed. By the way, my wife's Honda Accord has 450,000 miles on it.
Q:Rear shock absorber causing premature wear on bearings?
the shaft,s that your bearing,s go onto at the shock are worn you will never get the bearing tolerance's right afraid as it,s a 98 motor, if you can run to it replace both rear shocks and repack bearing,s it will cost a fair bit of money so give it some serious thinking you could use some of that cash for a newer car
Q:What Deck Trucks and Bearings n shizz would u recccomend for a street skateboader?
Deck - any brand (as long as its not walmart or others like that) 7.5 - 8 inches wide, 30 - 32 inches long Trucks - any brand that is the same size as your deck Wheels - any brand 49 - 53mm big Bearings - Bones Reds Griptape - any brand Hardware - any brand Shoes - any brand For decks I would recommend Mystery, Flip , or Baker. There are tons more, but these are my favorites. For trucks I have always rode on Ventures, but many people say Independents are the best. For wheels many people ride on Spitfires or Bones Wheels. For bearings ride Bones Reds. Cheap and good. For griptape, it depends. Mob Grip is the grippiest. I usually ride on Jessup grip. All hardware is the same. They all break eventually, just buy some cheap ones. Many people wear smaller shoes for skating because they say it is easier to control the board more. I wear 12's but when I skate I wear 10.5s. I would recommend DVS, Fallens, or Globes.
Q:i recently got a karvstix longboard.... does anyone think that i will need new wheels, bearings.etc?
I'm not personally familiar with the brand, but that depends on a lot of factors. Everyone's preferences are different. I like reverse pivot trucks, which seem to be on the Karvstix. I'm not seeing info. on the wheels and bearings. If you're new to longboarding, I would ride it as is and see what you think of it. If there's something that doesn't feel right, then swap it out.
Q:How do i change my swingarm bearings?
Use Swingarm needle bearings are very easy to damage.
Q:Does anyone know if the wheel bearings are bad in you car, can this damage your tires over time?
30,000 miles? should have been taken care of under warranty? tires really shouldn't cause premature bearing failure, unless they are way out of balance causing shaking. The bearings might not have been worn enough to be noticed when the new tires were put on. Perhaps your new tires run quieter so you hear more noises that were hushed by the noisy cheap tires you had previously?
