- If the bearings aren't sealed, blast the insides where all the little ball bearings are with a degreaser spray, or WD-40 if you have no degreaser. Repack the bearings with some white lithium grease. You can get that in a small tube for a couple bucks--plenty to do all your bearings with.

- bones makes many types of bearings. Some are ABEC rated and the better ones are not. The ABEC rating is for vibration in high speed machines that run at speeds similar to skating over 200 mph. They are not the best design for skating but companies make a lot of them for other reasons and it is cheaper to get them than a design that is custom made. Bones, Twin Cam, Zero Drag, and some other companies have custom designs for their better bearings.
- Q:2005 Sport Trac, 2WD, automatic trans w/ aprox 80K milesA few months ago there was a grinding sound from the rear of the truck that increased with speed (a whomb, whomb, whomb type sound) and even a clicking when I reversed. I was doing my breaks and noticed there was some play in the wheel when pushing/pulling but also that when I turned the wheel (both wheels up and trans in neutral) there was some side to side play (not sure if that is normal or not). Also when driving the truck slowly wobbles at low speeds and begins to shake at higher speeds. I noticed that this isn't constant and seems to greatly reduce after a left hand turn. One place told me it was the differential but I am not sure and don't want to spend a bunch of money if it's a bearing as I can replace the assembly myself for under $200.
- Sounds like outer wheel bearings but it could be the differential bearings as well. The only way to know is replace the wheel bearings and see if the noise stops. I'd check the gear oil level as well since if you were low on oil that would kill the bearings and the differential. If it's low make sure you add the specific kind for your axle.

- Only if you took out slow bearings and replaced them with faster ones. If all your bearings run well, mixing them will do nothing.

- ABEC is almost meaningless for skates or boards. It is an industrial standard for VIBRATION (not speed) in bearings on high speed machines that run at speeds that would be over 200 mph on a board. It became important because the previous ones that were used (20 years ago) were a grade called precision which are really sloppy. You can actually see them move them if you twist the center to the side. ABEC bearings were a huge move up and came without the heavy grease the was needed to make the precision bearings not rattle like maracas. However, now that a number was involved, the marketing people get into the idea that they can advertise higher numbers because people assume that higher is better. Almost all the difference in how fast a bearing rolls is in what lubricant is used.
- Q:i have a 2003 suzuki ozark 250, and the front wheel bearings are shot. I have the bearings, but before i start, i would like to have an idea of what im doing. Is it anything like replacing wheel bearings on a car? If so, just say its like that and i should be good to go. i've looked all over the internet for instructions, but i cannot find any. Ive changed car wheel bearings before, so if its anything like that, then say so. If not, post a link or description on how to do it. thanks
- is almost the same, the only diff is how the wheel is opened up,,, i believe they seal the bearings so you will haft to press them out i think,, if not then then its the same,,, ive only came across 2 types of 4wheelers that had to do that,, they were polarius models that floated on the water,,, now lookin at yours its the same as a car,,, after removing the wheel you take off the spindle ( for a car its called a rotor) then pick out the bearing clean out the grease add new grease, and pack the bearings with grease befor you put it in,, the more grease the better lol

- Tools: X-acto knife or any thin sharp thing to get uder the rubber lid, Bottle with a 1 inch or bigger hole Paint thinner, towel, BONES BEARING OIL DO NOT USE WD-40!, and skate tool. First take off your wheels, then pop off your bearing, put the end of the X-acto knife under then up off the rubber shield, Fill your bottle with 1 cup of Paint thinner, SHAKE for about a minute, dispose solvent safely while holding cap un-screwed on the hole just letting the liquid out, put bearings on towel, wipe them to get any excessive paint thinner off, 2-3 drops off lube, put rubber shields back on then give the bearings a spin, Put them back in order on your trucks. REMEMBER do no use any Water and clean any dirt, dust, etc off your bearing before putting them in your bottle! Hope this helps!
