Q:I recently made a trade with another airsofter and i found that the shell was missing some ball bearings and the spring was bent. where can I find a replacement for this. I live near carpendersville and there are very few airsoft stores around that i can get to. The shell just releases the gas once i fill to a certain point (like in .25 seconds)

Airsoft belongs in different - outdoors interest. You heard precise. If your search extended into your place of work, the number of applications is endless. Just look for any thing that is spinning or has a heavy object with rotational movement.

Q:I have a rm 125 and I might need to split the case to make some repairs and I was wonderin if you have to replace all of the bearings and seals when you do it

i would recommend it because you dont want to be back in there for a long time. the bearings are obsorbing air and gas all the time, to deteriorate them. seals will shrink terribly if it has set in storage a long time. any snowmobile mech. will tell you that. the seals have to be in great shape, or it defeats the vacuum effect to such air and fuel into the bottom end. with worn bearings they will try to seize when hot. and without the seals in great shape, it will never run at optimun level. and youll think you have coil problems all the time. you will have to takethe crank, to a shop with a press, the bearings have to be pressed on.

Q:Its a yamaha r6 2002 model and im trying to remove the back wheel bearings.I have pulled the oil seal off and the circlip but cant get any further.The bearings arnt moving when i tried to tap them out.Do i need to take the wheel to a dealer to press the bearings out with a special tool made for the job or is there a way to remove them on my own and how do you put the new ones back in? Any advise would be greatly appreciated as i need my bike for work and at the moment its in bits and cant put it back together until this is sorted.

While rather long and drawn out, tex42 petty much explained how to get the old bearing out. Freezing the old bearing is certainly a way to get it in easier, but a warm hub warms up a cold bearing pretty quickly. An alternative method of driving in the new bearing is to gently tap round and round on the edges of the new bearing to get it started, them use a big socket the same OD as the bearing and strike it with a hammer. Or, use the old bearing, as long as the inner race doesn't extend past the outer race. After getting the new bearing started, lay the old bearing on top of the new one, lay a piece of steel or something solid on top of it and then drive it down. Whatever you do, don't forget to replace the spacer before putting in the new bearing on the other side.

Q:I have a 1994 Lexus 300 GS. I have been told that My wheel bearings are bad.. I drove it anyway and one day I heard a pop and now my power steering is not working? I can start it and drive I just can't turn the wheel very well. I tried power steering fluid, and the belt is ok. Can it be the pump or just the wheel bearings or maybe both? I did not know if the wheel bearings had anything to do with the power steering?

the powersteering pump could be shot, and yes it does strain the steering pump with bad bearing due to side force at the spindle, start the car and take the cap off of the steering pump and look with a flash light to see if the fluid moves when turning the wheel(help to have someone else turn it but not too fast) if fluid is flowing you have a steering system problem that could kill you and others and get it towed to a shop or get someone who knows auto mechanical to fix it. there are many things that can effect the steering(cv axles/ball joints(struts)/power steering pump/rack and pinion(possible/means no steering at 55 when it goes completely)) too many things to show and or figure here. it is a task to do the wheels bearings and they can go so bad the wheel CAN fall off, and then the poop has hit the fan and possibly someone else, so if it was just someone who said the bearings was bad, get a more educated opinion. And if single marry a mechanic (it's cheaper lol)

The crankshaft main bearings and con rod big ends are replaceable plain bearings, small end rod are non-replacable plain with full floating wrist pin, camshaft plain, tranny shafts are caged ball bearings, steering head are loose balls (really cheap crap), swing arm pivot are plastic bushings (really, really cheap crap) and the wheel bearings are caged balls. You should be able to replace the steering head and swing arm with tapered roller bearings, which will really improve handling.

You may need both. The bearing on these cars are pressed into the spindle. The hub, which the tire bolts to, is pressed into the bearing assembly. I have had to replace both many times because the bearing gets so bad, that it starts to eat away at the hub. Unfortunately the only way to find out how extent the damage is, is to take it apart and look at the hub. If the hub looks good, all you need is the bearing. However, since the unit is pressed into the spindle, I would not recommend it for a do-it-yourselfer.
