Q:friendly plastic help!?
I agree with Lily. Plastics are all petroleum products. Have you tried alternatives for whatever it is that you're looking for? I use glass canning jars and recycled glass bottles in the freezer, glass bowls with a plate over them to keep leftovers in the refrigerator, etc., etc. The things that are most difficult are appliances, small and large. My Plastic-free Life is a fun interesting blog.
Q:Plastic pants question?
Plastic pants are what they used 50 years. We don't really use plastic pants anymore. Cloth diapers have come a long way. You should look into modern cloth diapers.
Q:Does Plastic packaging affect your decision to buy at the grocery?
Without question plastic packaging influences my decisions at the stores (not just grocery)! This is one of the reasons we choose to buy in bulk and cook from scratch. I'm appauled every week when I see my neighbors trashcans lined up down the road. Almost every one of them is filled so full they cannot shut the lid, and they are HUGE trashcans. We produce about one bag every 8 weeks. Plastics should be reserved for items that NEED to be in plastic. I want my shampoo in plastic...I no not like the idea of dancing in the shower with broken glass. I want my soda in glass, or aluminum. By the way, did you know aluminum soda cans have a plastic lining? Shocking! I hate sneaky plastic!
Q:how do humans use plastic negatively?
Plastic surgery, it can be 100s of years and that will be what's left long after the humans decay. certain packaging that can use alternative packaging could help reduce the use of plastic. Medically plastic is great because it is easily sterilized and also helps sterile fields because a lot of plastic things are single use then thrown away. Chest tubing saves lives and they are plastic.
Q:Chem - Melting point of plastic?
1. copper doesn't rust. 2. the high acidity? 3. it is used for many things as repair items and used to build things? 4. i don't know... 5. to prevent any injuries with getting electrocuted ? plastic doesn't conduct electricity. sorry I'm not all that sure but these are my best guesses. never taken chem before ahha try looking it up on the net too, I don't think I'm right.
Q:Is using recycled plastic dangerous?
It is certainly not dangerous. Don't worry about it. :)
Q:Is microwaving potatoes in plastic dangerous?
plastic where heated, releases carcinogens which are none agents to cause cancer. its not recommended to heat plastic in any situation.
Q:plastics...?
Here is a little book that is a REAL chemist's introduction to polymers. It's a thin little paperback that will be a challenging read for someone with not much chemistry background, but so what? Polymers by David J. Walton and J. Phillip Lorimer
Q:Biodegradable plastic?
Plastics are long complex organic molecules so by definition they do biodegrade but very very slowly. Bacteria have been evolving to consume more plastics as plastics are becoming more common in certain environments. Before we had plastics from petrochemicals, we made them from vegetables, from cellulose, you may have heard of cellophane, these biodegrade faster than petrochemical plastics because bacteria are already accustomed to consuming cellulose. Recently, we've been making plastic out of corn starch basically for green washing marketing. However, if something biodegrades, their carbon are released into the atmosphere as CO2 which with our global warming concerns would not be good for the environment. What most people believe is good for the environment often isn't.
Q:will bearing oil cause a reaction to plastic?
complicated thing. seek with google. it could help!
