Q:I am replacing my garbage disposal. I have black, white wires and a black/yellow wire. How do I connect this black/yellow wire. Is this a hot wire as well?
Check the color ,should be green yellow or blue yellow or dark blue yellow ,and that is ground wire ,mostly they have a ring brass connected to that wire .
Q:I have just learned how to make some pretty cool bracelets out of telephone wire and i would like to know where to find more telephone wire. Could someone tell me where i might be able to find some?
I dumpster dive, have all kinds of colors, length and thickness.
Q:there is a loose wire in my labtop charger wire. can i fix it or prevent it from happening.
Loose wires just happen - from the way a cable is bent, moved, stored, wrapped, etc... I think (providing it doesn't happen right after you get the product) that it's pretty much normal wear and tear over time. You could try to repair it, but it would involve removing the cable sheath and re-attaching the loose wire which may need soldering. You're probably better off just buying a charger. In my experience, cables tend to last longer if you don't tightly wrap or twist them during storage; I generally just loosely fold them.
Q:sence my stock head unit has no remote wire, when I hook the amp up, will it still drain the battery? I have everything connected, but the deck does not have no remote wire, and if it does I have no idea how to locate it. I am worried it will continue to run the amp when the car is off and drain the battery. Am I worried for nothing? If it will continue to drain the battery, how do I prevent this from happening?
use a test light ($5), you just need to connect the remote wire to a wire that is only hot when the car is on, (like the ignition power wire -not constant- going to the radio) and on factory radios it is usually a wire that is made to send the signal to the power antenna
Q:I have a 97 Dodge Stratus and I couldnt figure out why my new radio wasnt working... So I took the front speakers out and they work... but I need to figure out the correct wiring to I can set up My sound system!!! PLEASE HELP
usually when you install a aftermarket radio you don't need to do any wiring because its a lot easier if you buy a wiring harness and those wire colors would match the wire colors for the radio so that way you don't have to cut any wires
Q:Will a subwoofer amplifier wiring kit be for the sub and the amplifier???? Because I'm searching online and I can find amplifier wiring kits, but not a subwoofer wiring kit. Only a subwoofer amplifier kit???
In terms of amp wiring subs are no different than speakers. Just make sure you know the rms power of the amp and related current requirements so you choose the correct wire size. Also understand that the unusually inexpensive kits are not usually very honest about the actual size of the wire. 8 awg will cover you up to about 600w rms. An 8 awg kit should have a 50-60A fuse. 4 awg will cover up to 1000-1200w rms and should include at LEAST an 80A fuse, preferably 100-150A.
Q:I was looking at the wiring of my current thermostat and I want to know why it's wired the way it is...The yellow wire was wrapped around the white terminal and the yellow terminal. And the white wire was wrapped the around the Orange terminal. The red and green wires were each wrapped around their respective terminals. And the blue wire wasn't connected to anything. Why would the electrician have wrapped the yellow wire around 2 terminals? Is that normal? Also, I tried installing a new thermostat but the heating is not working. The fan works but it just blows room temperature air. The new thermostat only had 4 terminals for R, Y, W, G. I connected the wires I had to their respective terminals. However, I think it may not be working because I have a probably have a heat pump. Any Ideas why else it might not be working? Thanks a lot!
Yeah it sounds like you have a heat pump and it is wired VERY basically. Your new thermostat will not work because it has no O terminal. You will have to buy a heat pump t-stat then wire it the same way your old one was and it should work fine. In other words Red to R and Rh if it has one, Green to G, Yellow to Y *AND* W, and White to O. Basically what's being done the way your old t-stat was wired is the compressor is being brought on in heat or cool and the white wire on O is switching your reversing valve for cooling mode. The way you have the new one wired is just going to switch the reversing valve and turn the fan on and won't bring the compressor on when the heat is called to run. If your system has backup heat, that extra blue wire could be used to bring the backup heat on if it is re-wired to do so. If your going to have it re-wired I would change the wiring so blue was the reversing valve and white was the backup heat. This would require re-wiring both indoor and outdoor units if it is a split system or re-wiring the package unit if it is that type. Or if you really want it done right have new thermostat wiring run and have it wired properly for a heat pump. If you don't want to go through all of that just buy a heat pump stat and wire it like your old stat.

Q:Its a 3 wire chandelier, 2 are attached like a regular electric cord and the third is separate. all are the same color. the ceiling has 2 wires. one tan/white and the other is red. I am comfortable with doing the connections but unsure what wires to connect
You need an ohm-meter to find out which wire goes where. continuity is minimal ohms between 2 points. 1) The wire with continuity to the exposed metal of the fixture goes to the metal electrical box and/or ground wire. That wire is green or bare. 2) The wire with continuity to the outer shell of the sockets is the return path. It is usually the insulated wire with subtle corrugations on the outside. Tie it to the white wire in the box. 3) The wire with continuity to the tabs in the bases of the sockets is the supply (hot) one. It goes to the red wire in the box. 4) The chandelier will make light if wires 2 3 are swapped but it wouldn't be right.
Q:the fused ignition wire and illumination wire, i cant figure out where they go on a Dual stereo system model1225 Help. ( on a 1990 ranger )
