Q:I primed my CPVC pipe with the purple stuff and then used PVC cement instead of CPVC cement. Is this going to be a problem? What is the risk?
This Site Might Help You. RE: Used PVC cement for CPVC - ok? I primed my CPVC pipe with the purple stuff and then used PVC cement instead of CPVC cement. Is this going to be a problem? What is the risk?
Q:I have a walk-in shower (no door) and was planning on using cement board for the wall floor. Do i have to use a vapour barrier behind the cement board on the would frame? If so, what kind? Simply lay the tile on the board (wall floor) with thinset? What kind of thinset? Any help would be appreciated! Thx
More info is needed. What is on the floor of the shower now? A vapor barrier is needed for and insulated exterior wall. I use 15lb felt but 6mm poly can be used also. Insulation-vapor barrier-cement board with edges and corners taped with cement board fiberglass tape and thinset. Versabond modified thinset.
Q:It is cheaper to build a cement house than wood?
My late mother's name was Kathryn, Katie to family, so close enough, you can do no wrong. I would choose wood - pressure treated - as not only reasonably priced, but DIY-able, compared to the very serious labor that all big concrete work typically involves. And once you have a few tons of concrete sitting there, it tends to stay there, forever. Wood? Change your mind a few years later and change it as you see fit. Note that a porch and a roof for it are related, but not necessarily the same project. Think of a deck, then a roof for it. From personal experience, fool around with size, even if you just plop a lawn chair out there, then drop a length of rope or garden hose around you and think, OK, how 'bout that? Tends to reflect your personality - if frugal, you may get a little smallish, say 6x8 feet? Or a little grand - so say 20x30 feet? Enjoy the planning, half the fun.
Q:why is cement used for ? binding aggregate and sand or is used for increasing tensile strength?
In the most general sense of the word, a cement is a binder, a substance which sets and hardens independently, and can bind other materials together. The most important use of cement is the production of mortar and concrete - the bonding of natural or artificial aggregates to form a strong building material which is durable in the face of normal environmental effects.
Q:I'm doing this for the 1st time so can you tell me how to do it? What should I buy aside from that bag of cement? I'm gonna cement my ceiling, only the edges of the plywood because my family is breaking in to my room and damaging all of my things and they pass thru the ceiling, and I researched the price of plywood and it's quite expensive. I intended to just cover up my ceiling with a new set of plywood but I learned that doing so would be quite expensive and out of my budget. So I'm gonna cement my ceiling bit by bit instead because the hardware sellers discourage me to do it, so they can't refer me to a carpenter. Can you give me ideas how to make that cement stick to the plywood? What tools should I use? Moving out is not an option so I'm really stuck with this plan.
1) it's concrete, not cement 2) buy readily mixed concrete - depending on where you go, there are about a dozen different types available 3) but it won't help you - concrete doesn't stick really well to plywood, is very fragile and will take about a month to fully cure 4) and doing bit by bit isn't a good idea either, since the various bits won't be sticking to each other very well Just buy a (big) pack of screws, an electric screwdriver and screw down that plywood from the inside.
Q:how to install cement board for tile floor?
If you have a stiff, as in at least 3/4, subfloor, all you have to do it spread a little thinset on the clean subfloor using a 1/4 X 1/4 notched trowerl and nail it down with roofing nails about 12 on center. Roofing nails because they have a large head and are corrosion resistant and easy to install. Then use some thinset and fiberglass mesh tape to close up the joints between the sheet of tile backer.

Q:I am about to move into a new office and it is all carpet...We are a creative agency and really want that cool loft feel- Anyone know the best way to remove all the carpet ( and the glue ) from the cement and then the best way to stain it to look cool? :) We don't have a huge budget and really hope to be able to do this on our own. Thanks for any help!
yes isure and want
Q:This year, steel, concrete, sand, stone and other building materials prices how, compared with last year is high or low? As long as probably, do not need too much can also,
According to the international market conditions, especially in the European market, the recent rupiah on the euro exchange rate continued to fall, short-term rebound may be, and its European steel market prices continue to rise, the above view the price of steel prices may rise
Q:Or, why does cement curl at all?
Because one side is drier then the other. It tends to curl towards the drier side. You can get the same effect from cutting certain types of fruit. This only happens to cement that is approaching hardness.
