Q:Hi, I'm extending my pc 5.1 sound system stereo cables. I have a M/F extension wire which I will cut to solder a seamless wire to the system. Problem is that in the system cable I have a white, green(or red) and bare wire. and ont he extension I have a black red and white. Which wire do I connect to which?thanks
I'n not sure I understand the problem. In my view if you have 3 wires -- ending in, let's say, three plugs -- and want an extension it doesn't matter what colour the wires are as long as you end up connecting the original wires to the same plugs. So if you have white, green and bare on the original cable, when you cut the cable you have white, green and bare on both halves. Use the white, black, red extension cable to connect the two halves. I'd suggest white white, green red, and bare to black at one end and the same at the other ... but it doesn't really matter. Hope that helps.
Q:When I am wiring my sub to my amp, what gauge of wire should I use? The sub is 750 rms and the amp is 700 rms. And how do I wire a 2 ohm sub DVC to a 2 ohm stable amp?
the present passing for the duration of the wires will reason the wires to warmth up if no longer sufficient guage. think of of the hundreds of thousands of little electrons pushing and shoving returned and forth, all this action motives friction on a molecular point and of direction all of us understand friction equals warmth. In a bigger guage twine there is extra area for the comparable form of electons. it truly is truly that straightforward. Use as heavy a guage speaker twine which you would be able to. you will have no sign loss and little warmth.
Q:Has anyone ever used welding wire in their car audio setup? Is it more flexible or less than other car power wire? Is this a big problem? Is it a good or bad jacket?Would you use it again?I am looking at buying some welding wire from weldingsupply because it is .81 per foot. I would love to know if anyone has done this before and what they thought. The wire i am looking at is 4 gague.
It is actaully the exact same wire as the auto manufacturs use.... just bigger gauge is all. Edit... I see most people don't see it as possible.... well let me ask you this, How different do you think copper wire can be from another copper wire? If you really wanted too you can use speaker wire for power wire.... because at the end of the day wire is wire!
Q:if a wire of initial length, and radius has a measured resistance of 1.0 ohms. the wire is drawn under tensile stress to a new uniform radius of 0.25r. what is the new resistance of the wire?
Wire resistance =( length/area) x a constant When drawn, the wire radius is 1/4 of original, and it's length is 16 times of original (because volume is unchanged). Solve for new resistance/
Q:What method can be used to detect residual impurities and metal particles on the wire surface?
Remove the metal surface oxide, refers to the removal of the metal itself has been oxidized surface, such as: rust, skin and other materials that originally belong to the material itself.
Q:From my ceiling fan I have the following wires: green, white, blue and blackFrom my ceiling I have a bunch of wire in each of these colours: brown, red and orange.Which wires do I connect with each other??
These are all probably hot-side wires. If you have the knowledge and the tools, find out which wire or wires is/are hot in the box with the switch off. If you have no idea what I am talking about, you REALLY need to find someone who knows electricity. BTW, the wires in the fan are quite simple to decode. The green wire is the ground and attaches to either the box or a ground wire in the box. The white wire is the neutral and attaches to the white wires in the box. The black is the hot lead for the fan and the blue is the hot lead for the light. These two can be combined if you have only one wall switch. Where they attach in the box will be determined by which hot lead is switched. I can probably guess how the box and switch are wired but I may be wrong and that would be dangerous. Call an electrician so you don't burn your house down.
Q:My tail light work but when i hit the breaks everything go out. Any answers? Standard 4 wire
I believe that you have a bad gound wire, i realize that the ball should be enough to ground it , but it dosen't always work like that , so make sure that your white ground wire `is hooked up to your truck frame and the white wire coming from the trailer is connected to the frame of the trailer
Q:me and my friend were doing a circuit challenge and we did the same circuit but she used thicker wires. does it make a difference?
Well that depends upon your friends circuit. But, I can only add to what has already been said by saying this: - Using thick wires is traditionally associated with passing large currents in a circuit. However, if you use low voltages with thin pieces of wire (especially if it's long piece) then that can have a significant effect upon the circuit you are trying to supply. This is because the wire has resistance of its own that may well me nearly the same as that of the circuit you are trying to supply. All of which means that there may be a considerable voltage drop across the wire and less for the circuit you are trying to 'feed'. So, ironically, although thick wires are traditionally used for high current circuits they may also be found to in low voltage circuit passing very little current; the point being that we want a small a voltage drop as possible to appear across the wire. To illustate using a example, suppose that you are having a garden party or BBQ and decide to have some disco music outside. You set up the speakers outside while keeping the stereo in the house. You know that the voltages and currents are quite low so you think that more of the same cable that is already connected to the speakers would be fine. You run out the lengths to the speakers and switch on only to find that the volume is way too low even with the volume knob wound right up! What has happened? The resistance of the cable with the lengths that you are using is now comparable to the speaker impedance and this means that there is a voltage drop between the ends of the cable meaning less for your speakers. The solution is to use really thick cable, like mains cable capable of taking 10's of amps; it's not the current rating of the cable that you require but its low resistance.
Q:Live wire- bring current to appliancesNeutral wire- returns the current from the applianceMy question is, if we are using AC current, then in the next half cycle, the live wire will return the current from the appliance and the neutral wire will bring current to appliances. Am I right? If I’m right, then both wires have the same function why give them different names? Really appreciate your help.
You are right technically. However, with AC, the convention is that the current always flows from the hot to the neutral. Yes, we know it reverses every half cycle, but for the convention, just consider it always flowing from the hot to neutral. The difference between the two wires is that the neutral is at ground potential, or within a few volts of it, whereas the hot is 120 or 240 volts away from ground. Another example, a 240 volts split phase power to an electric oven. In this case, there are two hot wires, each at a potential of 120 volts from ground or neutral, but opposite in phase, so the current flows from one hot to the other hot. Again, it reverses twice per cycle.
Q:all my wires are cut and im trying to find the power/hot wire so that i dont fry anything....im trying to hook up a new radio
