Q:What accessories are required for laying composite flooring?
Moisture-proof film, steel nails,
Q:need to replace the floor
You have to cut the old floor out. Then repair the supporting wood then lay new plywood down and then seal with epoxy. It's a bit harder to do than most think, and you need to be sure the boat is worth the effort. You can find newer boats at giveaway prices, so why fix bad ones. Q:I have laminate flooring in my house, and I am having a hard time finding the right cleaner for the floor, I mop it one day and then I see spots all over it! Ughhh.
you can try windex, rain x or soapy water mixed with cold water. My husband used to clean floors for a living and he thinks one of these three would work.Test it on a small spot on the floor first and let it dry and see what it does.Or you can go to a floor store and ask what they recommend. They know the best products.
Q:I saw a lot of things on the wooden floor of the wall, especially such things, I really do not know how to build, I hope you advise more
The process and shape I have seen, the wood substrate on the line. Use the panel on the wall, do the floor texture of this process is seen! Wall layer after the use of panel wall wall closed edge, the surface can be decorated with paint or varnish of
Q:My bro bought a house and some of the floors are not even. (He got no basement.) What can he do to make the floors straight without investing too much money?
A good tile installer can use self leveling or pull mud if its radical.
Q:Want to know the floor area and the base line conversion, thank you
The floor is the area, the angle is the length.
Q:Can you lay down ceramic floor tiles over existing natural wood flooring? And if so, do you have to strip down the wood flooring first?
Now why would you want to cover up a natural wood floor? You can lay the tiles on top of it. you would have to strip the floor first of any wax build up. use an adhesive made for tiles then grout in the gaps. Doors will need to be shaved on the bottom so you will have a quarter inch clearance. Any Lowe's, 84, or home Depot will have helpful instructions along with the materials needed.
Q:Hello, I had a new home built about a year ago. The framer let the floor boards get rained on before the roof was installed. The floors were sanded then a hardwood floor was installed on top. When I walk on the floors they make cracking and squeaky sounds plus they feel squishy. I know the hardwood floor will have to be removed but what are my options for correcting the subfloor besides tearing it out? I have seen liquid floor leveler but I have almost 1800 sq feet to cover. Can another layer of subfloor be laid on top of the first level? What is the easiest most affordable option for correcting my floor?
There is something else going on here... Sub-floors get wet all the time in construction. They should be glued down with construction adhesive, all of those I have used would have dried before any rain water could have worked through the sub floor to the floor joists, and work on wet lumber to boot! Even if the plywood de-laminated a little bit here and there that wouldn't account for squeaky floors or those feeling squishy. Squeaks come from one thing rubbing against another, usually a nail moving in a piece of lumber, but your sub floor may be rubbing against each other if the sheets were installed without proper spacing. More likely it's the nails. Nails this new shouldn't be squeaking yet either, they usually start squeaking after the lumber is really dried out and old. We, exaggeratedly, refer to it as petrified lumber. One year isn't enough time. So my guess is you have flex in your floor, causing those nails to squeak. The joists might be undersized, or they may not have sufficient blocking between them Either solid blocking or X-bracing will stabilize the flex in the framing. Blocking should be every 6-8' or so. If you need liquid leveler, on a framed sub-floor, you have a poorly built house. I've never seen it done on framing, for a hardwood floor. Hardwood should be installed over the sub-floor with 15# felt paper between the two, or on firring strips over felt over the sub-floor. Small variations won't affect the performance of hardwood. The most affordable way to fix this floor is to try anything besides tearing it up. I would test my theory by shoring the floor from below with a few posts or at least tight fitting 2x4's to see if taking a little bounce out of the floor will solve your problems. I wish I'd have built your house buddy. The floors wouldn't have squeaked. See what else shows up here other than tearing up a new floor. Most anything else will be worth a try. Good luck!
Q:how much it cost to cork floor 900 square feet. I mean at least and at most, where do you buy it from? who installs it? how much for installation?how long will it last?thanks.
Cork okorder Quality cork will last as long as you want it to. 50 to 150 years if you want it to and give proper maintenance. Care is about the same as a hardwood floor. For 900 sf your price will be $3600 to $9000, depending on your selection. installation will be about $3500 + - . Be sure you get a very professional installer, cork needs to have someone who knows how.
Q:An air freshener of all things leaked on my linoleum floor, and now where it leaked the laminate shine part of the floor is peeling away, exposing the sticky part of the floor underneath. Is there any way to repair this?
Goldwing may be right, BUT. . . . I'll assume that whoever put down the stuff did not leave some spare linoleum. However, if there is a part of that floor that is never or rarely seen, you can scavenge some linoleum from that spot, and use a piece to fix that area. Under the fridge or stove, in a closet, that sort of thing. Cut a piece big enough to cover the area, keeping in mind matching the pattern, if any. Lay the repair piece over the spoiled area, and using a razor knife, cut around the repair part, into the floor itself, so that the repair part will set perfectly into the spoiled area when the area is cut and scraped out.
