Q:You are tiling a room with 1 foot squares tiles. The room is 11 feet 8 in wide and 15 ft 8 in long. How many whole tiles will you need? How many tiles will need to be cut? Each box of tiles covers 10 square feet. How many boxes of tiles will you need?
Are there no windows or doors in this room ? No other obstructions which affect the wall area ? In any case, it is impossible to determine how many tiles you will have to cut. It depends on where you start tiling, as well as the bits that you have to work around, like doors and windows, and so on. But, crucially, it is also important to know the height of the room. Work out a rough area and add, say, 15% for the ones you have to cut. So, if the room is h feet high, you will need 2 x (12h + 16h) = 2 x 28h = 56h square feet. Add 15% and you get 65h square feet (that is, 6.5h boxes of tiles). (But you can subtract the area of any doors, windows, etc.)
Q:never installed it before i am putting in mold free dry wall and new fixtures. want to put up tile instead of a surround wondering how hard it is to do thanks
I would suggest getting a good tile book at the book store or library and reading it. Despite what the first answerer says it is not quite easy. I have probably done 75 bathrooms and while it's not terribly difficult it does take some skill and some planning. Especially around corners and other transitions. As was suggested do not use drywall behind the tile in a shower. Study up and then make a decision. Good luck
Q:I see Dongpeng ceramic tile on the packaging that write what the site, and then write the OF, OB what, I now Tangshan life, we say now Tangshan Dongpeng brick are Shandong, is that right?
Carton written to the address, where the same brand where the production of almost different places only factory
Q:A few tiles in my building flat give a cracking noise when i step on them.Upon inspection i found that the tiles make cracking sound even when i press them with my hands but requires some strength. There is a small airgap in a few joints but the gap is very small. The tiles were installed almost 15 years ago and i dont know how old the building is but is considered an earthquake proof structure. The cracking sound is sometimes even for as long as 1-2 seconds when standing on it.So is it a lose tile or a foundation crack?
You say the tile floor was installed about 15 years ago, which would make me think that the thin-set mastic used to adhere the tiles to the floor has dried out and allowed several of the tiles to loosen on the mastic bed. This allows them to move, albeit ever so slightly, each time you step on them. If the problem is not resolved soon the cracking sound will increase and there's a good chance the tiles themselves will crack and then need to be completely replaced. This could be sort of difficult seeing as how you'd be attempting to match 15 year old patterns. The repair is to remove the affected tiles, then remove the old thin-set mastic, being careful not to disturb the surrounding tiles, reapply new mastic and then re-set the tiles. Allow them to set overnight, undisturbed and the next day re-grout the cracks. If you don't feel comfortable doing the repairs or if it's not your building, either get your landlord involved or hire a flooring guy yourself.
Q:Okay the apartment i live in was built in the 60‘s and unfortunately everything is completely out of date. Trying to get the maintnence people out is more of a hastle than help. So im trying to do this myself. The stuff inbetween the tiles no matter how hard i scrub with scrubbing bubbles and kaboom and everything doesnt come clean this yuckiness is all over lining the tub and all tiles. Does anyone have any ideas on how i can fix this what to use or if i need to regrout how do i do this ? thanks
go to your local hardware store and ask for a grout removing tool. This tool will scrape out the old grout and then you can renew it.
Q:Remodeling the bathroom...How can i drill a hole in ceramic tile...What kind of drill would I use..or what kind of file would be best to make a hole in the tile to go around the shower faucet..Thanks for your input...
Which tile is it? porcelain or ceramic?? they are 110% different Porcelain tile you need to get a VERY high quality diamond/tunstencarbide drill bit/ holesaw. if it a small hole you need to drill then a simple glass bit will work, but use plenty of water For ceramic tile a a big hardware store sell an inexpensive holesaw for the larger holes and a glass bit will work fine on smaller holes
Q:The classification of various tiles and the specific process
Tile classification, depends on what place, useful wall polished tiles, the ground also has polished tiles, as well as pool tiles, etc.
Q:i‘m thinking about laying my own tile. ( this way i could save $2700) yeah, i know its a pain int he butt. BUT i‘m still going to do it because i like doing my own work. I‘m laying down 24x24 tiles. do you have any advice or secrete or techniques to offer? its a straight edge tile so i was thinking about using no spacers. I was also told to spread thinset on the tile in addition to the cement floor.

Q:We will be tiling a backsplash directly onto drywall after our countertops are installed. My question is -- what do I do about the electrical outlets in that area? The tile is about 1/4 inch thick -- and I want the outlets even with the tile (right?) After I tile around the outlet openings, then how do you make them flush when you put everything back together? For example, do I just pull the sockets out so that the screw brackets sit on top of the tile? If so, then do I need to drill screw holes through the tile? If so, then how do I make sure that the tile does not break or crack?
Normally, you have 1/4 of extra thread on the outlet screw to play with. If the screw isn't long enough ask someone at your local hardware store for a longer screw. DON'T use drywall screws because they will strip the threads on your electrical box. So yes, pull the sockets out and let the screw brackets sit on the tile.
Q:Steno Tiles how Steno is a few lines of brand
3 look at the appearance Before looking at the appearance, we must first look at the store lights, light color, brightness is different, will cause a greater visual difference. If necessary, the floor tiles can be moved outdoors to carefully view the maximum degree of reduction of the original color of the tile. First of all, of course, is to choose their own favorite color, and then we must carefully look at the surface of the deficiencies and flaws. Look at the appearance of the most should pay attention to the tiles on the surface of the small flaws, this problem even big brands of tiles will appear. If the blemish is small, or rarely (a few tiles have one) is negligible. Appearance should also pay attention to the tiles of the corner there is no bump of the situation, the tiles of the glazed corner of the most fragile, glazed bad quality tile is the first corner of the problem. Of course, businesses certainly will not be broken brick can open two bags of tiles to see each corner of the situation, if only individual tiles have a corner of the bump, is acceptable, because in the paving, the experienced tile union Put such a brick on the ground edge, will be cut off the side of the problem, does not affect the use. 4 test weight The same size of the floor tiles, the greater the weight, the better the quality, which is a relatively simple and rugged and effective selection method. Good quality tiles (800mm * 800mm) a pack of three, not a regular exercise of adult men is difficult to move up alone. (I belong to the type of extreme lack of exercise, two Nobel 800mm * 800mm tiles I can not move a person) Weight reference: a 800mm * 800mm tile about 30 pounds to 40 pounds, a 600mm * 600mm tile about 12 pounds to 18 pounds, a 300mm * 300mm tile about 3 pounds to 5 pounds.
