Q:Does anyone know how I would go about hooking up the air conditioners in my house to solar panels? I would want just the air conditioners to be powered by solar energy. How could I hook it up where the panels can absorb energy from the sun during the day, and save and store the energy so I can run the air conditioners at night? I really feel that in the long run, this would save a lot of money with the energy bill. It's the use of the air conditioners that drive up the bill. Is this idea feasible? Is it also possible to have some sort of hybrid system where I can switch from solar to my regular local energy source when I want to?
There are solar air conditioners. They don't use electricity. Most anyway. The number of photovoltaic panels you would need to run a standard electric air conditioner would cover most of the homes on the block. Read about heat pumps, Thermal storage, swamp coolers, solar heating to get an idea of what is practical. Most solar systems are hybrid because of clouds and nightfall. The best solar homes are designed from the ground up. With plenty of insulation, the right size and orientation of windows and collectors. Putting solar on an existing structure is going to be a misfit half donkey job unless you are very lucky.
Q:I want to know how to hook up a Solartech SPM020P-R, 20W Solar Panel to a single outlet that you can but at a store.
That panel you reference puts out about 20W. @ 8V of DC. You can't wire that to a standard 20V outlet without a battery/inverter unit. Even then, you don't get a useful amount of power. In a full day you would collect enough energy to run a small TV for about an hour.
Q:Is there a free site or resource that will teach you how to do this? Hopefully step by step and tells you how to buy all the parts ect?Which is the best resource for sale earth4energy, homemadeenergy, ect? Do they actually work and also as well as those which are professionally done? They say it will cost under $200 for a panel, but how much will this panel actually produce I mean how many panels would you have to make to produce 00% of your homes energy?
I have no idea the out put of the panel you plan to make, but $200.00 will not even come close to power much. You don't say whether you want to power your house straight from the solar panels (not possible, because the sun doesn't shine 24/7). That being said, you will need a very large array to power your house, going to battery's to inverter to get AC power. Your initial cost would be around $25000,00, but you might be eligible for a tax rebate and maybe a rebate from your state and power company. There is a lot more to be said on the subject, but this is enough to either get you started or discouraged.
Q:I need to use solar panels to charge lead acid batteries in an off-grid application. I understand that solar panels have a open circuit maximum voltage and an maximum amperage under no resistance, and that one can optimize the power output by regulating the load (resistance). If so, is just connecting 2 -volt solar panels to a lead-acid battery inefficient? Are there devices that will maximize 2 volt output power (by varying the resistance)? Am I on the right track here? Thanks for any help.
Hi, okorder / having good batteries like this one make save you the hassel to buy controllers. You can control your own charge buy different tips
Q:I've run out of things to keep me entertained recently and as part of a larger project, I was curious if its possible to 'McGuyver' up a solar panel out of common materials?
It okorder /
Q:i need to make a solar panel model for a project in science and i would like to know how to build a easy model at home that wont cost alot
There are different types of solar panels. Photovoltaic for electricity, and thermal for heating water, and passive for heating air. So it would help if you would say what type you are going to build. Theere are a lot of videos on you tube on how to make solar panels. use the link below.
Q:discription how does solar panels save energy
I'm definitely no expert in the field but hope to learn much more in the future. I'm in the infancy stage of researching as many options as possible in the design and construction of a total green house. That being said, a particular local news story sparked my interest when they investigated the cost effectiveness of residential solar panel systems. Here in Austin, Texas, through subsidies and incentives offered, you can install a system that costs roughly 22.5k for about 7. Apparently these deductions come from a federal incentive (which is a very small portion) combined with those set by the city itself. Austin is a pretty progressive city so I imagine their incentives might be a little better than most but you can call your city's general info line (3) and do a little more digging. Another option you might have is renting the equipment. I was told yesterday that a company here in town would allow for the installation and use for a monthly rate. I know how tight cash can be in school and 7 thousand might not be tangible. The whole issue of energy conservation is so prevalent these days that new info is constantly coming out. Give your current energy provider a call and see what they can tell ya. I hope you find something that works for you. -G
Q:Are there any safety precautions to consider when installing solar panels?
Yes, there are several safety precautions to consider when installing solar panels. Firstly, it is important to work with a qualified and experienced installer who follows industry standards and guidelines. Adequate training and knowledge of electrical systems are crucial to ensure safe installation. Additionally, proper precautions should be taken when working with heights, as solar panels are typically installed on rooftops. This includes using appropriate fall protection equipment and following all relevant safety protocols. It is also essential to turn off electricity before starting the installation process to avoid electrical shocks. Finally, regular maintenance and inspections should be conducted to ensure the panels are in good condition and operating safely.
Q:Is there a cheaper way on how to make your own solar panels ? Can someone share their real life experience ? Thank you.
If okorder / . Beware of anyone who makes claims you can save tons of money by making your own panels. Those are scams. It's possible to save money with solar, but not with homemade panels.
Q:Say if i had a 2KW system is thtat just one big solar panel or does the whole system have little solarpanels together.?
As Aviophage says, there is plenty of info around. Solar panels produce electrical energy from the sunlight's energy. The sun puts out around 00W per square meter, and the panels are up to 20% efficient at converting this. If you are looking for a Grid Connected power system, they are usually made up of 24V modules about 50W each. The full voltage produced is then around 50V to 500V DC depending on the sun etc. They are connected to a specialised grid connect or grid interactive inverter (look up Sunny Boy for an example) which converts this to mains power for use around the house, while any remainder is exported to the supply network. The supply company may buy this at premium rates, and governments may provide subsidies to approved installations. There may also be carbon credit certificates when you buy a system. Not all places allow such things to be connected to the grid, but this market is rapidly changing. The links below should get you started.
