Q:I got a new hoodie this week that was too bigMy mom said it would shrink and I listened even though none of my clothes have ever shrunk(en?)So now I have a medium when I need a smallThis is my senior sweater so I'd prefer not to have it blanketing me or having to tie it in the back all the timeI've tried washing it in hot water and drying it three times and still no resultsI'd prefer not to have to wash it more, the inside is already losing it's softnessAny suggestions?
Wash in hot water and rinse in ice cold waterThis will shrink the fiberRepeat until desired shapeJo Ann
Q:I am working with a turkish drop spindle and some corridale roving I am more or less teaching myself I am separating the roving into thinner long pieces to spin My question (I don't know all the right terms yet) is, do I have to make sure the roving pieces are going in one direction? If so, I do I tell which end is which? thanks for trying to help this old-lady beginner oldivoryknits
This turn of phrase is often used by members of the WKFThey basically to refer to the Karate of mainland Japan (which, as others have wisely pointed out, all came from Okinawa.) that are the older and therefore traditional stylesThere are other styles which were not recognized early on or came into effect after (such as Kyokushin) and thus they are not considered traditionalSplitting hairs is a good way to look at itEspecially as sport karate becomes more and more unified and bland This means that the four main styles of WKF are the ones they are talking aboutThose styles are: Shotokan Shito-Ryu Goju-Ryu Wado-Ryu
Q:I have physics homework in for tommorrow and I really need anyone's wild guesses to point me in the right direction to answering this question! I know it is a really hard question and totally pointless (don't ask me why me pysics teacher wanted me to do this) I just need some tips on how: what the serving in a white cup and saucer and the froth is important for keeping the drink hotAnd if it helps, the topic I'm doing is heat transfer through infra-red radiationThanks!
Firstly serving in a white cup is very interesting actually I have never thought of this White Cup Infrared radiation is reflected in the same way as light, thus using white means more of the radiation is reflected back into the cappuccino instead of being absorbed by the cup; therefore keeping it warmerPorcelain Cup Any material with low thermal conductivity can be used to reduce conductive heat transferCeramics are known for low thermal conductivityThis slows the conduction of heat from the cappuccino to the porcelain and air outsideFroth Most insulators in common rely on the principle of trapping air (air being a good insulator) to reduce convective and conductive heat transferThe froth on a cappuccino traps the air preventing it from conducting away heat.
Q:what's the difference between fibers and textiles?
I'd go w/ Kashi instead, it has far more fiber and no where near the sugar of granola, which will only help you gain weightWhat can be the con for cleaning out your colon honestly?
Q:My attic is not one of those that are easily accessed, you have to go through a tiny square shaped hole to get in there, and it has a thick layer of blown insulationSo recently I've been hearing the rats walking up there from my room at night when it's quietI have no clue how many there are nor if they live there. What's the best way to kill them? I can't go up there because I'm afraid the ceileing will break.I can stick my body through the whole but I can't step on the ceilingIs there a poison in spray form that will kill them? What are my options? Thanks in advanceBest answer will be given
I am not discounting the fact that you may indeed have ratsWe had the same problems several yrs agoOur house is on side of mountain, thick woodsWe started hearing little pitter patter in our attic and walls, only at night, and usually very lateOur horror was we had rats and plenty of themIn a frantic we called a company (Critter Gitter) that specializes in these situationsHere is what he told us, it was not rats but flying squirrels, they can get in a hole or crevice the size of a quarterDo you have trees close by? They find your home and use it to raise their youngThey run and forage in day and come in at nightThey move in as a group and raise youngThey will destroy your attic by their mess and droppingsYou need to get rid of them asapI don't remember exactly what he charged but it was well worth every pennyWhile they are snug in there beds, He sets wire traps (a.m.) where ever he thinks they are coming in When they start moving, usually at p.mthey exit the same path and right in the cageIt would be great help if you could ever see where they are going in at and this would be less labor if you hire it doneIn my case it was in the winter months and we had a light snow the day before the critter guy came outHe set his cages and in 2 days we had all 16 squirrelsThen seal the holes! Hope this helps! And you definitely don't want to poison them!
Q:I know to straiting it and i look realy pretty when i do but i can do it every morning! Can i?
I think it used to be, now it's aluminum foil.
Q:what are symptoms of having a lack of fiber in the diet?can it also include loose stools (soft and kinda sandy)?
Anti Static Bag Alternative
Q:im doing a science fair project and im trying to find out wat material best absorbs cold temperature not fabrici have to make boxes out of different materials and but something cold in it like ice creami have to find out which material absorbs the best temperatureim doing my research paper and i cant find the answerplz helpnd any ideas of what materials i should make the boxes out of? i was thinking woodshedrockStyrofoamand i cant think of anything else.
A better way to frame this problem is to find a material which best insulates against heat infiltration when the object to be protected is cold and the environment is warm/hot[This is the conceptual opposite of finding the material which best insulates against heat loss when the object to be protected is hot and the environment is cold.] Selecting the best material amounts to looking at the R-value associated with various building materials, then stacking those materials in such a way that the resulting box has the basic performance characteristics needed(e.gdon't put ice cream directly onto fiberglass insulation.)Materials with a high R-value are very good insulators of heatMaterials with a low R-value are very poor insulators of heatStyrofoam would be a good insulator of heat - a box made of Styrofoam would work wellAn aerogel between an inner box made of plexiglass and an outer box made of plexiglass would also perform very well - it'd be super expensive, but it'd perform wellFiberglass insulation between an inner box made of drywall and an outer box made of wood would work tooNot sure I'd want to eat ice cream that's been sitting on a piece of drywall thoughA metal box exposed to a nearby heat source would be absolutely terribleNothng says you can't use a plexiglass box to hold the ice cream, wrap the box with fiberglass insulation, then build a styrofoam box around it(stack materials of different R-values to improve performance.) Just more food for thoughtHTH
Q:i was told to eat more fiber in my diet due to diverticulosis diagnosed during my colon testthe foods that are high in fiber, i.evegs and nuts and beans, cause stomach gas so what do you do?
I suffer from the same problemI would suggest that you talk to your doctor about itIf it is really bothering you and you can't get to the doctors right away, I would suggest something like gas-xI started to eat these bars called fiber one.they are oat barsThey have 9grams of fiber per bar, and they really did a number on my stomach, so I gave it a day, took some tums and it went awayIs this something you just started doing ? Maybe slow down on your fiber intake and work your way up gradually.
Q:Will zincoxide work as a substitute for ceramic based thermal paste for cpu or gpu?
Zinc doesn't have the needed thermal conductivity, use Arctic Silver instead.
