Q:and what do i do with the ground and neutral when switching from an outlet that has a spot for all four wire to one that only has three where does the ground go
Al is aluminum and CU is copper (basic chemical symbols). Everything else that has been answered thus far is wrong. AL is bigger for the same ampere rating, but it is not double. Not ALL aluminum wiring is dangerous. Many (most?) houses have SOME aluminum wiring that is just fine. DIY's shouldn't be doing electrical work they don't understand, and aluminum is more picky about being installed properly. One answer described 4 iwires including bare and green. Only one or the other will be present. Now, what is it you are doing that you are switching from 4 wires to 3 wires? My first guess is a range or dryer outlet in a house. If that is the case, it is illegal to change from 4 wires to 3, and you should get the proper cord for your range or dryer that has a 4 prong plug on it.
Q:I need help with simple electrical wiring, everything from where does the active and neutral go, in for example lights with a common, a loop, a one and a two. Possibly any links to EBook of useful websites. I am currently undergoing a pre-vocational course at tafe, just looking for a better understanding
You are talking about a switch, not a light. The common would be the active, from the mains. There would not be a neutral connection, the neutral from the mains would connect to the neutral from the light, in the LOOP terminal. The 1 is the one intended to go to the A of the light, the 2 is not used unless the switch is in a 2- way switching circuit. There may be an earth connector as well, so both earth wires go in that (the incoming power and the light earth). A light fitting on the ceiling may have an active, a neutral, a loop and an earth. If the power goes to the switch first, you will have a cable connected to the 1 of the switch. This connects to the active of the light. The neutral wire from the switch loop contact goes to the neutral connection of the light. The earth, if fitted, goes to the earth contact. The loop contact is unused. Should the mains supply go first to the light, the neutral will terminate in the neutral connection of the light. The active will connect to another cable to the switch, using the loop terminal. The second wire from the switch connects to the active connection of the light. At the switch end, the loop connection is unused. The mains active goes to the common connection, the wire from the active connection of the light goes to the terminal 1. That's why electricians are schooled. To them, it's as easy as ABC. Q:Wire and cable models WDZD-BYJ and WDZB-YJY What is the difference between seeking prawn answer!
Bridge to make a bend; supervision if not pick it no matter it
Q:Electrical three-pin plug three lines of color are what color
You use a few loom ah not to re-establish a broadband connection ah
Q:How to use a multimeter to measure the power line barrier
The general digital set-top boxes are connected through the video TV you find the TV behind the video interface yellow is the image of white and red voice must not plug the wrong set-top box the same and then you stare to change the mouth to clear the glass with the remote control video It's up
Q:i have a ballast that says it needs two hot wires and a grounding wire. it says digital ballasts should never have a neutral wire. from what i understand, a standard american outlet contains 1hot 1neutral and 1grounding wire. do i have to rewire my outlet in order to use the ballast?
I wire ballasts almost everyday in the USA and other than 208V, 240V, and 480V ballasts they all have a neutral sometimes called the common conductor labeled (com)
Q:A. The wire is coated with a insulator to prevent shock. B. The birds are natural insulators.C. The birds are not touching the wire. D. The bird's feet are insulators.
None of the above answers are correct. The reason the bird doesn't get shocked is that the electricity flow has not be earthed. The wires have insulators on the poles to stop the power being earthed by the poles, which would kill animals or people who touch them. So the power lines are not earthed.
Q:I accidentally cut a hidden outside electrical outlet with my lawn mower. The outlet was knocked off the wires and they are now exposed. I've managed to isolate the breaker and shut it off, which is a temporary fix. The outlet is pretty useless (it was kind of hidden by a well that I was cutting around, and forgotten) and not used anymore. So, I'm not really interested in replacing it - I want to know how to cover the wire so it isn't an exposed live electrical wire in my yard. How easy is this?
To be completely safe, you should use a junction box (outdoor rated). Use electrical tape and wire nuts to terminate the hot and neutral wires, and leave the ends secured in the junction box (properly affixed to the well or whatever support it was on).
Q:I have an outdoor electrical outlet in the middle of my backyard. I think the prvious owners used to have a hot tub back there. Anyhow, the pvc conduit coming from the outlet goes into the ground about 10 inches and then I can see the electrical wire buried underground coming towards my house. I would like to just remove the outlet all together without digging it all up because it goes under my porch concrete. Can I just cap it off somehow and bury it? How? Thanks.

Q:1 phase partial HP motor does the cap get wired to the line side of the circuit? I got a junk motor and table saw that was wired with a 2 conductor cable and the line/neutral was a maybe. When I replaced the cable and cleaned the start switch it now trips the breaker. I then reversed the line/ n connections and it hums but does not start. I cleaned the dust and have read to ground for a clean insulation. After 50 some years in the electrical industry, I now need to wire some motors internally rather than send 'em to the shop for a rewind. Thanks guys.
On all motors the Capacitor gos between the L1 and centrifugal (cut out)switch (which then gos to the start winding). In ac L1 and L2 are reversible toward the power source
