Q:what kind of noise does a water pump make when it is going on a car?
There is no noise associated with a water pump going out that I am aware of other than the engine exploding due to excessive heat. The dash guages; especially the engine temp guage, will give you a clue as to a cooling problem, whcih is what the water pump is for. The water pump prevents the engine block from overheating. When the pump fails, the engine overheats and will either shut down, or the engine will burn out. The best way to tell is to monitor the temp guage. If the engine is running hot, it either the water pump, lack of water in the cooling system, or Thermostat failure. Best to have a mechanic check it out. Cheers!
Q:water pump running backward?
See diagram of belt routing on rad cover or hood. Like the others said. Depending on the engine, it may run backwards to the crank, look at the old one to see how it turns. It pulls water from the rad to the block, not the other way round. With the rad cap off and as the thermostat opens, water should flow from the upper hose into the bottom of the rad Edit: water gets sucked up lower rad hose into pump, pushed into engine up to thermostat that controls water temp and back into rad at the top. if it does not over heat and the belt is on correctly , don`t worry. I hope you did the thermostat when the system was drained
Q:Will an F150 water pump work on an F100?
No it won't mess up the engine as long as there are aren't any leaks meaning a new gasket is used, the belt is adjusted correctly and is aligned, and the thermostat is replaced using the correct temperature item. Any good parts store employee can sell you the correct thermostat.
Q:clutch fan or water pump?
So if i understand, you are losing water from your system but no evidence of where it is going. I can think of two options. Heater core, but you may get a coolant smell inside the car, steam on the interior of windshield. You can check this by connecting the heater hoses directly, bypassing the heater core. If it still loses water, look for foamy oil on the dipstick or on the oil filler cap. If present then the other guy is right - headgasket. I would also look into flushing the system, or replacing the radiator - it may be clogged.
Q:Location of fresh water pump on early 90's Jayco 2500 bumper pull trailer.?
having had many travel trailers the water pump is usually in a cabinet or under a bed or couch with a lot of plastic water lines near where you screw the water hose into the side of the trailer. and they are usually a preset psi from the factory so that is usually nothing to have to worry about and most have an on off switch located in the traier by the kitchen sink. And if the hot water heater is no good look into a tankless water heater it will save you money in the long run but initially you have to have a vent installed up through the roof away from a roof air vent. Another suggestion everytime you move a travel trailer they get the crap pounded out of them and someone needs to go up on the roof with a ladder and/or a plank that goes across the width so there is no weight standing on a roof to make dents or pop seams. Use some plastic stuff like plasticote available at wal mart after you move the trailer and set it up go up and make sure to double coat any of the seams that need it. I crank the heat up inside the trailer and do a double coat the heat rising will put a skin on the plasticote in a few hours instead of 12 or more. and the double coat gets any cracks missed the first time around. After that check it once a year if the trailer stays there.
Q:Are submersible water pumps silent?
they all make noise. my Ex had them all, arrrgh!
Q:What does water pump mean?
According to use: - water pump, pump, slurry pump, sewage pump, sewage pump, well pump, submersible pump, pump, pump, fire pump and other household. It's a device for pumping liquid.
Q:Do you need to replace the water pump on your car when replacing the water pump gasket?
well, since they gotta take all that crap off to change the gasket, I would, it's cheap insurance..
Q:Can I drive a car that has a broken Water Pump?
Depends on how bad the leak, and the condition of the bearings. If the pump is just leaking you may be OK. If the fan is mounted directly to the pump and is grinding or wobbling around, don't do it. The fan could break loose and cause expensive damage. Good luck
Q:How much can you safely restrict a water pump's flow?
I wouldn't restrict it more than about 10% or so personally. I would ask you to think about this: The rated flow rate on a pump is under perfect operating conditions and is usually a mathmatical model that cannot really be acheived in the real world. Your pump probbaly is several gallons per hours behind that. If the tank is on a stand and the pump on the floor, the head pressure alone may slow it to 1300 or below. Additional tubing, especially hard angles will further reduce the flow. I would suggest you get a flow meter ( you can probably borrow one from a plumber for a day) and test the actual flow rate in your set up. Remember that the chiller will further reduce the flow itself. Odds are good you are closer to the needed 1300 than you think. You can also install a small diverter valve in the line. Basically splitting the output from the pump into two lines. One can carry about 1250 GPH and the other the rest which it just returns to the tank unchilled. Hope that helps MM
