Q:When my carpets are cleaned at first, they are perfectly clean and I have a friend who owns a carpet company who doesn't just steam clean the carpets. After a few months, the same stains seem to re-emerge from where they were before as if they were cleaned on the surface but re-surfaced.I have 2 cats where I have cleaned hairballs, and a lot of throwing up, and I think that's what the stains are from. I use the MIracle stuff for cat stains/odors and it seems to work at first, but again they come up especially in the hallway upstairs. The rest of my my carpets are not bad, even after a year. I take good care of them and keep them as clean as possible but these round stains in various places make it look really bad! How can I make them go away permanently. I'm tired of hiring expensive carpet cleaners where they look great for a month or so; then these same spots seem to come back plus additional hairballs which I try to catch as soon as I can.Thanks.

what method do you actually use to clean your carpets? since the same spots are resurfacing and thats the area where your cats are then i bet you need to have the actually padding replaced there and probably the carpet as well. you dont want to ever let a pet get too comfortable in one area. they are attracted to their own smell. have that padding/carpet replaced and cleaned. and every so often rotate their area so they arent used to just one area. i know it may not be the best budget wise but with pets having carpet is the worst. tile is much better.

Q:if i place a sheet of vinyl over carpet will it tear or anything if i walk over it or do i need something to put under it

it needs to be on a hard surface,like plywood. why would you put it over carpet?

Q:Me and some friends were wrestling around and I got a rug burn...its pretty red...anyone know the best way to heal it and about how long it'll take? (Dnt wanna walk around skool with it but meh) I was thinking of using Neosporin pain relief ointment (the clear kind) 2 times a day..any ideas? Thx in advance :D

Rug burn is chafing , so neosporinr is perfect. Just wash with soapy water and let it dry first. It will clear up fast if it's just red. If its bleeding or oprn will take longer. Aloe, from a plant will work too.

Q:I live on the 2nd floor of an apartment building. While attempting to do laundry earlier today, I didn't notice that my washer never shut off.. So it kept filling until I noticed my dining room/kitchen room were flooded. I immediately shut the water off. The neighbors below came to my door stating that the water had leaked into their apartment. The question im having is quot;Is it necessary to have the carpet replaced?quot; I have a two year old, and after doing some research I learned that mold could build up, which is something I dont want.Also when the maintenance people came they tracked my carpet with mud and who knows what else when trying to fix my washer.My apartment wont just give me new carpet so Im trying to get some advice in whether or not I should fight for new carpet.

it is standard practice to dry and then clean carpet that has been soaked with water. but if it is really soaked they need to suck all the water out and then put special carpet drying fans under the carpet. what are they doing ? you did not tell us. and i guess it is their washer supplied with the apt and not yours correct ?

Q:I have just this cheap low shag carpet in my boys room I want to put down some wood planks. I don't understand why I would have to remove the carpet, it's so low it's not plush. Not quite as bad as commercial office carpet but pretty close to it. Can't I simply install the fllor over it, what's going to happen if I do?

it would not be a good idea. we do not understand how large of an section you're masking yet pull out the carpet and placed down which ever foam pad ( with vapor barrier) the producer is calling for. Do issues the right way the first time and not in any respect worry again. perhaps slightly extra artwork and $ yet well worth it.

Q:I have this expensive shag rug from pottery barn, and my two cats have peed on it. I couldn't tell because the shag is so fluffy but when i moved it there pee had stained my wood floor. I love this carpet, and don't want to throw it out. Does anyone know how I can clean a shag rug from cat pee? They only went in one area so its secluded to that one section.(No I will not get rid of my cats)

Without knowing what the rug is made of, I'm not sure of what to tell you exactly. If you think you could wash it in the washing machine, try that. If your washer isn't big enough, maybe a triple load washer at the laundromat will work. If it's too big for the washer you could take it to the carwash and use the clips on the wall of the carwash stall to hang the rug on. Spray the rug with the soapy water, making sure to rinse well. Take it home (take some large trash bags with you to avoid getting your car soggy) and let it dry in the sun, perhaps over your fence.

I just Googled Ashley area rug and noticed that they are made from nylon, one of the points being easy to clean. Can you ask the manufacturer or place you bought it? I'd try just straight white vinegar sponged on and then blotted. I'd then elevate or hang the rug so both sides can air until completely dry. Get a squirt bottle and use it keep the cat off the rug.
