- Q:We bought a vanity set from Home Depot for our bathroom. It came with the base (vanity) and a counter/sink piece to sit on top. We don't see anyway to secure the counter to the vanity. It just sits there. But it rocks a little actually. Seems like it should stay in place somehow other than because the faucet is attached to the plumbing. How do we do this? It didn't come with any pieces, and maybe it should have come with directions we don't have.Thanks
- You put a bead of construction adhesive on the top edge of the vanity, and a couple spots on the wall where the counter touches the wall. Set it in place and let it dry for 24hr.
- Q:My dog decided to chew off a corner of our bathroom vanity, which is made out of particle board. I am checking to see if it's possible to repair the cabinet. Would wood putty or some other substance work to recreate the corner edge? If you have any ideas for how to repair or replace particle board, I'd be grateful!The other option, of course, is to buy a new vanity and replace it ourselves. Would this be easier (and/or more cost-effective) than trying to repair the cabinet? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!!

- Q:What is the best way to remove an enclosed bathroom vanity right next to a wall when the drain pipe curves to the right (towards the wall) once it has entered the inside cabinet of the vanity. There is no wiggle room between the right hand side wall (as you face the vanity) and the vanity.
- If the back of the vanity is in closed, you will have to take the vanity apart. Remove the top then the side on the left. Then the bottom and right side. If the back is in closed it was put in place and walled in. That's the only way it could be done. You will have to cut the backing board, Panel to remove it. Finish out the wall and install an open back vanity..

- Q:We are updating our guest bathroom and would like to paint the vanity. It is a double vanity with oak cabinetry (but it is beat up) and beige countertop. We are replacing the beat up wall trim with new painted white trim and the walls are going to be a dark khaki color. We were thinking that paining it white would be to stark and might not look good with the beige countertop. Would it look good to paint the vanity the same dark khaki color as the walls?
- How about black semi gloss? Black looks great on any furniture and it would look good with the countertop too. The khaki on the cabinets would not look bad but I think it would blend in with the room more than you want it to. You could always paint a door on the vanity first and see what you think since you already have that color. I would not use the wall paint for the cabinets though. You will need to prime them first and use at least a semi gloss on them. I like the brushed nickle for the hardware idea. But only if you have the silver color for the faucets and stuff too. I like butterfly lovers answer too but only if you want to go to the trouble of stripping and staining them.
- Q:Previous owners left a ton of these and using vinegar + baking soda paste and Barkeeper's Friend hasn't helped lift the stains. Is there a way to bleach them out or cover them up? The vanity is white.
- Try oven cleaner. Leave it on for about 15 min. Then wipe it off.
