- It is definitely ONLY personal preference. I don't like mine to match....I want dark in my bath and light in the kitchen. Lighter makes rooms look bigger....

- Find an old bed-side table or dresser or anything the right height/dimensions, just drill holes for the plumbing in the top and back. Use the drawers, etc as you would a regular vanity. Remember to do all the refinishing work BEFORE you install the sink. You don't need to buy a commercial vanity. Get creative. You could probably even buy a slab of granite, marble, etc for the top if you wanted that type of counter for your vessel sink.

- If you just want a vanity, glue, or nail the drawers shut, remove the insides, cut a hole for the pipes, and for the sink. From there it's the same as any counter top. If you want the drawers to work it's not a DIY, unless you have plenty of carpentry skills. Whatever, finish with 2-3 coats of water-based-poly to seal. Oh, great idea! They're really classy!
