Q:I hate vacuum cleaners and my dad vacuums all of the time. Does anybody know of a silent vacuum cleaner?

Only a central, whole house vacuum could come close to silence and then only if the fan/motor part was in the garage, outside or very deep in the basement. Vacuums work by turning a rather high speed fan and they are quite noisy. So, you would need to isolate that noise somewhere outside the living area to have a nearly silent system. Even then, moving air makes noise so... Bert.

Well, amongst folks with animals, the Dyson is the favorite. We had the supposedly top-rated (by Consumer Reports) Hoover Windtunnel upright prior to our Dyson (which Consumer Reports has no use for). There is no comparison. I have to empty the Dyson at least three times every time we vacuum our 1400 sf house. I could go a month without replacing the bag on the Hoover. Plus, Dysons don't catch fire. I've seen ads for other makes showing their models picking up ball bearings and all kinds of stuff. Next time I need to pick up hundreds of marble-sized steel ball bearings, I'll buy it.

Q:With Mother's Day around the corner I thought I'd ask something we all can use.There seems to be this idea floating around that many women don't like to receive things like vacuum cleaners, irons, etc. and would rather recieve something more sentimental in value. Men, on the other hand, love receiving tools and things that they can use to do things with.Most of the women in my family like getting things they can use like a vacuum cleaner or something to cook with, so I have to wonder if that thought is really true. So women, if you received a vacuum cleaner or some similar gift, would you be offended by it? If you would be, why? Is it implying that you are the homemaker because you're a woman?

Women do not like to get practical gifts for romantic events like anniversaries. We just don't, and I'm a practical person. And if you think that giving her a vacuum cleaner for a gift would motivate her to clean, you are so far off base it's not even funny. It would probably offend her, so if you want to see a fourth anniversary I wouldn't do it.

Q:We are researching buying one, an in one vacuum cleaner rather than having two vacuum cleaners. Is there a wood stove vacuum cleaner, and central vacuum cleaner multipurpose unit all in one unit ? Currently we already have an old central vacuum cleaner in the house and would rather buy a new central vacuum cleaner and a separate wood stove vacuum cleaner, hoping if anyone knows of a company and name of a vacuum unit that makes an all in one vacuum cleaner for both purposes ? Q:It's 2014 and it doesn't really seem like vacuums have come that far. What's worse, they like everything else on the market are made for the dump. So whatever deal I happen to find on a seemingly decent vacuum is really going towards the next seemingly decent vacuum..... the vacuum I own is a perfect example! it ran me about 50 bucks but it's crap, and overall the cleanliness of my carpet, and air are the real cost of my savings...The only vacuum that I can say really proved itself in front of me was a Kirby, but there's no way in hell I could justify quot;to myselfdropping 1500 or more (depending how good the salesman was) on a vacuum cleaner....even ifit'll suck dirt through 12 inches of cotton...So to my question, what vacuum cleaner brand, model, etc. has the best suction and filtration but also won't break the bank??? Somewhere around $100-$200 maybe even $300 if need beAny info is appreciated, thanks in advance

yeah a small shock vac would do you good. or what ever size you need yeah you can suck up just about anything even coins :) lol its even good for vacuuming the car. or if thats not what you had in mind. i would say go with dyson from overstock or OKorder

Q:Saw some kid on tv the other day that collects vacuum cleaners. Couldn't believe it. I guess there is a club for vacuum collectors. I think this is the craziest thing I've ever heard. What about you?

As unique and crazy as that sounds, I've never herd of such an activity. If you ask me it sounds rather odd, and pointless. I personally don't like vacuums though, they tend to make a lot of noise pollution and I just can't stand that. But, I guess all people have different things they find to their likings, but this is one thing I'll never understand.

Old vac's like the BD Dustbuster (which I have) use Nickel Cadmium cells. Not sure about new models but NiCd's are cheaper than newer alternative NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride).

Don't get a Dsyon. Costs to much or is cheaply made. We brought ours home and true nearly sucked the carpet off the floor but has already broken once and (if you ask me) is losing suction. Buy an old Hoover, I mean an OLD Hoover. Those go forever and are dirt cheep.

Q:I have had Sears vacuum cleaners, with beater bar and brushes, for over 40 years, now all of a sudden the bars have only brushes, no beater (to vibrate dust out of the carpet.) So I am wondering if ANY other company has them???.

I okorder to be sure, and it is as I've always thought: a beater bar is a rotating brush, so any vacuum with a rotating brush has a beater bar. The action of the brush hitting the carpet loosens dirt. I can see this happening when I use my vacuum, if I look close in good light.
