Physical properties[edit]

Polyethylene is a thermoplasticpolymer consisting of long hydrocarbon chains. Depending on the crystallinity and molecular weight, a melting point and glass transition may or may not be observable. The temperature at which these occur varies strongly with the type of polyethylene. For common commercial grades of medium- and high-density polyethylene the melting point is typically in the range 120 to 180 °C (248 to 356 °F). The melting point for average, commercial, low-density polyethylene is typically 105 to 115 °C (221 to 239 °F).it is transprant.

Chemical properties[edit]

Most LDPE, MDPE and HDPE grades have excellent chemical resistance, meaning that it is not attacked by strong acids or strong bases. It is also resistant to gentle oxidants and reducing agents. Polyethylene burns slowly with a blue flame having a yellow tip and gives off an odour of paraffin. The material continues burning on removal of the flame source and produces a drip.[3] Crystalline samples do not dissolve at room temperature. Polyethylene (other than cross-linked polyethylene) usually can be dissolved at elevated temperatures in aromatic hydrocarbons such as toluene or xylene, or in chlorinated solvents such as trichloroethane or trichlorobenzene.[4]

Q:Why does flavor ice (the Popsicle in a plastic strip/tube/bag thingy) make you cough?
never heard of that
Q:do guinea pigs like tubes?
Guinea pigs like pretty big tubes but you don't need to pay rip-off pet store prices for them. Oatmeal containers with the top and bottom cut off work great. Go by the dumpster of a carpet store and grab a section of the cardboard tube they roll the carpet on and cut it to a good length. You can go to one of the big box hardware stores and get a plastic pipe elbow for 6 plastic pipe. The piglets love going round the corner! Hope this helps
Q:How do I get my hamster to stop chewing on the plastic tubes in his cage?
I've had hamsters escape from cages with tubes after they have chewed holes. I'd recommend getting an all wire cage or glass terrarium asap.
Q:Just found a plastic tube in my steak?!?!?!?
It's probably a tube used to inject the meat with some sort of aging solution or perservative. NO the food we get these days in not hardly natural. It's a shame what our people has let happen in this country, all for the almighty $. You get what you pay for, if you want good natural meat and other food it will cost a little more money. And Americans still think Lincoln abolished slavery. LOL. This country needed more slaves. All Lincoln did was take the color out of slavery and give them the right to choose who they slave for. We are still slaves, 7.50 an hour is slave wages. Why? Who can afford good quality food on a budget of 7.50 an hour?
Q:There is rubbish in the plastic pipe. How can it be cleaned?
With a 10 mm diameter is about 1 meters long plastic tube is tightly sheathed on the faucet, the other end is inserted into the plug, cloth around the plastic pipe plugged on the drain, open the tap after using the water pressure will be rushed to the blockage.
Q:ok. so theres this cap i sper glued on a plastic tube with threads. it screws on the pipe... how can i undo...?
read the superglue label. find the brand. some will disolve in acetone (as the other person said), something like loctite will get sticky and loosen with heat (use a soldering iron, hair dryer, stove element). Mostly you are up proverbial creek.. hehe.. hope things work out. :)
Q:When you rub a plastic tube with a fur or a wool cloth, the rubber tube becomes negatively charged.?
There is also a charge on the wool or fabric, but this charge is quickly disapated. The plastic tube holds the charge longer because it is electrically non-conductive.
Q:tubular bellows?
Try plastic dryer vent pipe. Its spiral wire with some kind of mylar like skin. It can be used as bellows. Right around 4 diameter.
Q:2. Two identical strong magnets are dropped simultaneously by two students into two vertical tubes of the same?
hi Ducky, Hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe... i admire this one..the place IS GOD!!! which will coach those boys a element or 2..a huge celeb My pal.. a chum, poppy1 happy Easter My friends..shop a especially Easter Egg for Me. Lol..
Q:On a 2003 mercedes e320 how can I remove the transmission fill tube that has a red plastic pin on the cover? ?
stick a small flat head screw driver underneath the red square plastic part of the lock. pull the screw driver up and break off the red plastic tab. take the screw driver and push the rest of the broken rec lock part down all the way. pull of the black plastic cap. Make sure you pull out the little black o ring with it.
