Q:So i practily live in my basement. Its a hard wood floor but my moms stupid dog as come down and peed on it countless times. It seems like an easy fix case u would usualy just spray it down where the pee was and clean it up. Problem is my rug is black so i cant see the stains .Im sick of the smell and my friends dont want to come over cause of it. I dont want to have to get rid of the rug ... i cant take it outside cause its gross and wet and raining all week. What should i do?

Spray vinegar and vacuum dry. I suggest to be friend with the dog. I observe it myself everytime i get angry with my dog. She will make a mess. Teach, love, play and take care of the dog. You will see the outcome gradually. And when the sun shines, best to wash and dry the carpet outside.

I've seen them advertised in the UK but off hand can't remember where - Rideway? Derby House? IIRC they are expensive. You could probably use three equivalent rugs and pay less for them but they wouldn't match prettily. Depends whether you want economy or looks. On the basis that two or three thin layers are warmer than one thick one they should be a good idea. However, I don't have direct experience of this 3 in 1 rug. I've been at it for long enough to prefer economy as long as the performance is satisfactory. Along with others at the yard I use a Morrison's First Home duvet as an under layer indoors when it's very cold.

What kind of carpet good material, it depends on practicality, this has to be based on your home, as well as personnel and other circumstances to consider. If you pay more attention to this comfort, then this wool carpet or wool blended carpet is more suitable for this situation, the whole wool carpet.

Q:I have a nasty old carpet and I don't want to replace it until I decide to get ceramic tiles or fiber glass vinyle. I went to Ikea and bought large area rugs. They move when we walk on them and they wrinkle. I used doubled sided tape, it didn't work. Can I use Gorilla glue? should I spray water first before using the glue?should I use super glue? I own the place, so it is ok to glue rugs to the carpet.

Rugs over carpets are only tacky if they're those small entryway-type rugs. This is an area rug, so I'm sure you'll be fine. An area rug can help to pull a space together and define the dining area as one unit, so I commend you for your choice. It'll really help separate the living area and dining area. Make sure the rug colour and pattern fit in with the rest of the place, though! If the carpet is a neutral beige, you can do a bold colour; make sure it works with the furniture and wallpaint. I doubt you have a dark, vivid carpet, but if you do you would want to go with something lighter and more neutral to contrast with it and still make the delineation of living/dining work. And make sure the rug is not too large or too small. If it's too small, it will make the dining table and chairs seem like they're cramped into a small space. The rug should at least extend slightly beyond the table, although it does not need to extend beyond the chairs. In the US--Usually, the carpet they remove when they replace it with the new carpet is discarded. If the owner of the home didn't care to keep it, the carpet store could take it with them. They could resell it and install it somewhere else if they found a buyer. But if they are selling it as new, and it is not, they could be sued for fraud. Some states may have specific health and safety laws prohibiting them from reselling the carpet, but I don't know of any.

Q:We had some pee spots on our area rug while house breaking our dog. We rented a rug doctor steam cleaner and cleaned our rug but now I can smell dog pee just sitting on the couch. I can assure you we were very thorough in cleaning this rug; went over the area many times using over half a bottle of solution then ran just water several times to get up all remaining soap. I can understand that it seems we have loosened and spread around the pee, but if doing a through job with a steam cleaner doesn't work, what else can I do? Now I couldn't even spot treat since it is all over now. I would assume the pee is up but the odor remains. There is no carpet pad under this rug which I know can be the problem with carpet. This rug is only 6 months old, how can I save it?!

Declawing is the very last option, to be used only when everything else has failed miserably at least twice and you are about to abandon her. How would you like the first joints of all your fingers removed, even if you didn't need them for defense? Cats need something to claw. Carpet-covered scratching posts work well for some cats. Others prefer sisal-wrapped posts. I had one cat that liked a chunk of log with the bark still on it. Every cat I've ever known has loved to scratch corrugated cardboard: box, sheet, or in a scratcher. You can put catnip on a new scratcher to attract the cat in the first place. After that you shouldn't need it, but they do enjoy it once in while. I clip my cats' claws every 3 to 4 weeks; just press on the paw pad and the claws come out. For kittens, you can use an ordinary people-type nail clipper. For larger cats, you can buy clippers at the pet supply store. If the cat's claws are white, you can see where to clip; just in front of the pink, as on your own nails. If the cat's claws are black or cloudy, clip the narrow tips just ahead of where they widen. If the cat won't cooperate, it may take two people and a towel wrap, but it only takes a few minutes every few weeks.
