Q:HOW TO TREAT RUG BURN?
cold rag and lotion for about 5-7 days
Q:What method can be used to fix carpets on cement stairs
There is special carpet glue for carpet, it can be glued on the cement floor
Q:I have a large square area rug (12x16ish), it has different colored (brown, blue, burgundy, tan, etc.) squares all over it. It got left out side in the weather most of the winter. If I were to dry it out and clean it could I do anything to make it nicer? Like, could I paint it or something? I put it outside in the first place because it was starting to get thin in spots and some of it was faded. t had to be vacuumed all the time because it was like colored dry rotted thread dust was coming off of it. I was wondering if anyone could come up with some last resort ideas before I take it to the dump. I'm not really sure if it could be painted because its like carpet???? but is there a type of vacuum-able fabric or something I could glue to it or any ideas like that?
sounds like the rug is pretty much worn out, I think the only thing you could do would be to make small door mats from the areas that are still somewhat in good shape and throw the rest away. Once a material has become so degraded as you describe, there is is no way to save it, plus it only makes cleaning and maintenance more difficult because it is constantly falling apart right under your feet.
Q:two days ago we rented one of those rug doctors and shampood the carpet. we went over it a few times so the carpet did get wet. Now im smelling like a mildew/ gross dog smell (i dont have dogs) the AC has been on the whole time and the windows are opened...how do i get rid of this horrible smell!?
you over wet it the carpet , if the weather is humid the carpet will retain a wet dog smell , next time that you intend to shampoo the carpet make sure that you don't over soak it and that you shampoo it on a dry day and yes keep those windows open , in the mean time to solve the problem spray the carpet with Lysol to neutralize the smell and keep the windows opened on a nice breezy day, next month re shampoo the carpet giving it a pre treatment of white vinegar before shampooing again but this time don't over wet it .
Q:So somebody spilt hydrogen peroxide on the carpet and now it's bleached! The original color was kinda a beige color and I need to know is there any possible way at all to get rid of this or kinda dirty it up to look beige... Please help!
I don't know if it will work. Spray the carpet with hydrogen peroxide. Then think about dying the carpet back to beige.
Q:I found this carpet last year by Shaw- Kathy Ireland's Young Attitudes line it's called Grape Harvest. Where and how can I find it? It's such beautiful carpet? If anyone knows where I can buy it please share. NO SMARTASS COMMENTS SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY PLEASE
I worked in a furniture store and one side sold Shaw carpet. Lots of stores buy rugs as samples and then they sit on the pile, so there is a good chance some store in your metro area that sells Shaw carpeting may have it, even at a discount. Look up carpets and rugs in the phonebook, find ones that sell Shaw, call and ask for the manager, give him the size you need. A good manager will check stock and may even call related stores or contact the rep to see where in your area the rug was sold. A rep will usually see what a store has in stock and may know a store still has it. Good luck. And a regulat salesperson may not know the stock well or at all---lots of turnover in rug store salespeople.
Q:is there any good dust removal methods for the carpet with lots of dust at home?
Point out one point specially: Because of its natural lanolin. Sometimes the surface needs to be brushed with cotton dipped in cold water. 2, make it bright as new 3. Although the texture of the carpet will change in a long time.
Q:Its almost thanksgiving which means lots of guest! I have nasty old stained grey carpet. what can I do in only a weeks time?
Well, you can get lots of area rugs...or just a couple big ones for the center of the rooms. Sometimes Wally World has them for about $25-30 each. Of course, they aren't high quality, but they'll do. I say center of the rooms, b/c that's most likely where most of the wear/dirt is. But I would try cleaning the carpet really well first. Rent a Rug Doctor and clean it, vacumming with a regular vac REALLY well first. You can save on the carpet shampoo if you use liquid Gain (it's low foam enough, use the same amt. of it the machine requires of the reg. stuff). I have off white carpet, and I've even used bleach in my steam cleaner before. Not something I'd do often, but I was desperate to get it clean and didn't care if it got messed up. It stung my eyes before it was all said and done, but it looked really nice afterwards (I used Gain at the same time also). It didn't bleach the cream color out of my carpet at all, and that's using about 1/8-1/4cup per clean water change. But if you're worried, dilute some bleach with water and test in somewhere hidden first. But if you think your carpet is ugly anyways, I don't know that you'd care if it were lightened up a bit.
Q:i have pink rugs in my room right now and want to re-do my room without getting new rugs. what should i do??
well you could maybe get a rug cover or i have heard you can dye them! if you ask permission maybe you could draw on them. personally i think dying them is tthe way to go
Q:My dog peed on the rug in the bathroom, I know urine has ammonia in it, so would it be okay if I used bleach or would that create a deadly toxin. Can anybody help with this.
you could use bleach but that would just stain the rug. if the spot has dried, wet the spot slightly then pour some bicarbonate of soda down.leave for a while (over night or a few hrs) that will draw the smell out. brush the soda of once you've left it for a while. then clean it with a anti bac carpet cleaner and pat dry.if its small enough you could put it in the washing machine. if the smell is still lingering coffee is good for removing smells. put in down dry on dry fabrics leave again for a while then hover off,you might have to do this a few times, but it should work! hope that helps xxxx
