Q:Is it true that if you accidentally vacuum metal, that can cause a fire?
Its possible, but about as likely as winning the lottery twice in a day. The material you pick up is irrelevant anything that jams the motor can cause the motor to overhaet and if you just stare at it for a while there is the remote possibility that the motor will heat up enough to combust the material around it. Ie flammable dust, lint, etc...
Q:How can I tell how loud a vacuum is before I buy it (if there is no display model)?
Most places do have a return policy so could return it if you were unhappy. Could also make a request to the owner to put one together. If it has mostly this type of item on sale I am sure they will be happy to do this to make the sale. I think you will find that most vacuums do make close to the same amount of sound. That is what I have found. I worry more about the power it has to pick stuff up.
Q:A little old lady answered a knock on the door one day, only to be confronted by a well-dressed young man carrying a vacuum cleaner.quot;Good morning, said the young man. quot;If I could take a couple minutes of your time, I would like to demonstrate the very latest in high-powered vacuum cleaners.quot;quot;Go away!said the old lady. quot;I haven't got any moneyand she proceeded to close the door.
Good for her.?!
Q:how to make a vacuum cleaners?
Get a job with a manufacturer of vacuum cleaners.
Q:Oke this sounds kinda dumb but i was wondering..IF i had a space suit which would make me able to ''fly'' just a few cm above jupiter, and i wouldnt fall in it. if i had a vacuum cleaner with me, HOW fast would it need to go to suck up some air of jupiter?ik gravity is terribly strong but still.. with the right speed it can be escaped right ?
Jupiter's gravitational field is much stronger than any other planet of our Sun. There is no practical surface -- the atmosphere just gets more and more dense as you approach the planet. You could potentially devise some sort of airplane like vehicle which could fly through the atmosphere. Engine technology would be only one problem. Temperatures are cold, escape velocity is very high, and many other problems need to be solved. Getting a sample of Jupiter's atmosphere could be as simple, if you have solved the other problems, of having a vacuum bottle, opening it to draw in and capture a sample, then closing the bottle and leaving. You can read a lot about Jupiter's gravity, temperatures, size, escape velocity, and so on by searching for Jupiter in wikipedia.
Q:Do you have an amazing vacuum cleaner and what is the name and cost? I am looking for something exceptional.?
Consumer Reports' best buy is the Kenmore (Sears) Progressive with Direct Drive 35922 for about $300.
Q:So I went on a trip, and I put my clothes in SpaceBags to save space. Problem is, there's no vacuum in the hotel for when I'm repacking to go home. I only brought one bag, and there's a one-bag limit. No carry ons. What do I do about it?
Ask the Hotel's housekeeping staff if they have a vacuum you can borrow Buy another Suitcase and pay the Extra Bag Fee. Stuff as much as you can into the suitcase. if you have someone who can keep sitting on the items and pushing them down. Go to a local shipping store and have them ship any extra items back by something like UPS/FedEx. If you can do without things for a few days, sending it ground may be a cheaper alternative to buying the extra suitcase and paying the extra bag fee. Decide what you no longer want to have and find a local charity to donate the items to. Leave them in the Hotel for them to just take or throw away.
Q:Every vacuum cleaner I have ever had starts smelling burned after 1 min.of use. They barely pick up anything and I have to go over that spot 10 times. In addition I have to clean the rollers EVERY time before vacuuming. What amI doing wrong? This happens with all my vacum cleaners, new or used.
Yeah that sounds like the belt. Make sure the belt is on it right and not broken. If it is broken you can buy a new one for a few dollars at the store you bought the vacuum or at walmart.
Q:has anyone ever bought a Dirt Devil Purpose for pets cyclonic upright vacuum? how did it work?? please help me. i'm about to go buy one from walmart but i need to know how well it works.
Consumer Reports Magazine has a long article, with product ratings, on vacuum cleaners in the current March 2008 issue, on page 36, that mentions Dirt Devil three times. There is another article on vacuum cleaners in the October 2007 issu
Q:Any advice, anyone?
I had the same question a couple of months ago when my vacuum cleaner broke. Fortunately Consumer Reports had recently had an article on vacuum cleaners, so after reading the article I bought a Bissell Powerforce bagless at Wal-Mart for about $50 and I'm very pleased with it. It picks up pet hair and dirt much better than the old one, which cost twice as much.
