- Are you working on a rug now? As you know, a rigid heddle loom has limitations. You can only do plain weave, and for a rug, this is just fine. If you are using rag strips, that is even better. The patterning will come from the colour of the horizontal stripes you are weaving. You can change them at will, or according to a set pattern. The patterns are only limited to your imagination! I would make a small drawing on paper and then just use coloured pencils or crayons to make horizontal stripes. If you have patterned material to work with, you may not need to make much of a design because the wefts (the cross threads) will make a design of their own. How wide is your rigid heddle? Most are fairly narrow -- perhaps up to 22 wide. Your rug is going to be quite narrow. You may want to piece two of them together side by side, and that offers further possibilities for creating a pattern. Just go wild!! You can do anything you want.

- Take to the laundry mat and wash in one of those tumble washers on cold or warm water setting. Dry in dryer but not on the hottest setting. If you dry on the hottest setting in the dryer the rubber backing could melt.

- You should have not gotten it wet. You should have vacuumed it up right away. There is no real way to get that out of the carpet now. I have tried. I did the same thing. Spilled an ash tray, brushed off as much as i could, then used resolve. I still have the stain. nothing helped. Sorry :(

- White vinegar, and water. Put it in a spray bottle, half vinegar, half water, spray on stain. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then blot with paper towels. Make sure to test on another part of your carpet first, to make sure it doesn't change the colour.

- How much did you spill? If the above with nail polish remover does not work. You can change that piece of carpet by cutting out a small square around the stain and replace it with another piece of the same carpet from an area that can’t be seen eg under furniture. You have to glue both pieces in making shore the pile of carpet is going the same way and if there is a pattern you have to cut the replacing piece in same place in patter as the stain. Once its glued twist and brush pile around edge into the existing carpet pile so the joints are not visible.
