- When I ran out of the Rug Doctor solution, I used a laundry detergent instead. The reasoning was that other detergents (like for general cleaning or dishes) have high sufectant levels (soapy/bubbly) and you don't want bubbles in your Rug Doctor machine. I diluted it a lot, though, and relied more on hot water (boiled a pot, like for tea) than soap for the cleaning to work. However, I've found that Stanley Steemer was a better deal. They do all the work, plus their machines are so much more advanced than the Rug Doctors'. For the past year or two, I spot clean with retail treatments, then save my money so I can afford a good, professional scrub every 6 months or so.

- Round, average carpet will be around 3./3.50$ a s/f. This isn t fancy and not the cheapest... This is an installed price with pad ( 5 1/2# minimum) and standard installation. Won t cover rip out and disposal of the old. This is just a general price to get you an idea.. And your right.. carpet is only sold in the s/f format.. - Go with a gold or natural beige. Or use blues complimentary color of orange if you really want to liven it up! You could also use a darker red with those colors. It depend upon your furniture and what style you are going for! Since I don't know all of the facts I would probably use the gold/tan/beige colors and then use color in pics, pillows,throws, accents,area rug, etc.Best wishes!

- Yes its a softer fiber. Softer than your standard nylon carpet. But the drawback is that the fibers don t stand up as well as nylon and defiantly won t last as long as wool. Being a rug and if its a decorative rug it won t get the wear and tear as a standard carpet. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL

- The best way I have found is the following. Remove any of the wax that you can without damaging the carpet fibers first. Next, use a towel and an iron set on a low setting. Place a section of the towel over the wax and heat with the iron. Keep the iron moving at all times. When you begin to see wax appearing on the towel ( it will soak into the towel as it begins melting ) move the towel to a clean section. Repeat until all of the wax is absorbed. The carpet area can then be cleaned further with goof off if necessary. If the towel is washed in hot water with detergent, the wax should wash out.
