Q:Is there a free solar panel program for veterans?
I had the great pleasure to volunteer with a non-profit in California installing solar panels on qualified low-income households. The homeowners would pay nothing at all or a small portion of the system cost, and all labor was donated. Solar panel manufacturers, like Siliken, Sunpower, and Canadian, and inverter manufacturers, like PV Powered, also offered subsidized or discounted pricing. The rest of the cost of the panels was funded by the Single Homes Affordable Solar Homes (SASH) Program run by California’s Solar Initiative. The nonprofit is named Grid Alternatives and I included a link to their site below.
Q:Solar panel power question?
NO ! Pump needs 747 watts power. And you need to buy one more expensive DC to AC converter to make it work. Use solar panel at least has 000W output.
Q:thermodynamic question that includes heating water with solar panels?
Good points. I'm new to the solar energy world, but solar just makes sense. Who wouldn't want to make it work? The more I learn the more I think its a great alternative to some of the energy we use. This info really helps.
Q:Solar Panel Wiring in SERIES?
If the panels are the same, there is no problem in putting them in series. If you examine the panels, they will be made up of about 36 identical cells in series. Ok, now you have 72 cells in series, fine if they are the same. You need (at a minimum) a diode in the line so that when it is dark, the panels do not draw current out the batteries (it wont be much but you might as well block it). You say the panels are rated 5 amps? Those are pretty good sized panels! Unless you have a charging regulator, I guarantee that they Will overcharge the batteries (unless the batteries are huge, like the size of a refrigerator). Did you maybe mean 5 watts? About a foot square? If so, the output is about 300mA (0.3 amps) which will not overcharge a battery as long as it is at least as large as a garden tractor battery. At a 300mA charge rate, it will take a longgg time to recharge.
Q:Where do I find solar panels?
Home systems start at $30,000 and go up. There are federal income tax credits to help offset the cost, but you still have to pay up front, more than the average person can afford.
Q:How to build a small SOLAR PANEL that will light a 60 watt light bulb?
I don't have any practical experience building solar panel arrays to power a given device, but allow me to make this observation. Solar cells, when exposed to sunlight, will each generate a given amount of power (watts), and by wiring these in series, you will increase the wattage. Now, a panel three feet square will give you a certain amount of power, provided all the cells are wired correctly in series, and it may not provide enough juice to light the bulb. You can work around this by adding a step-up transformer (which takes the incoming power and boosts it to the desired level for output, with no moving parts). Voila! You've illuminated your bulb. I will admit, though, you'll have to do some math to determine what you need. A search on the Web will help you find the formulae and other information you'll require. Good luck.
Q:Is heat a factor in how much energy is gained when using solar panels?
Not at all. You`ll generate more energy on a clear sunny day in the winter time than you would on a cloudy day in the summer.
Q:can solar power panels installed at home provide enough electricity to power house hold appliances?
During daylight hours yes. I have just six panels, and during the summer, with feed in tariffs paid by my retailer, I hardly pay any electricity bills. Many people around me have up to 20 panels on their roof, and are gross feed in to the grid, meaning no more electricity bills. * or preferably 0 panels will ensure you never have to pay an electricity bill again.
Q:how do i pick out solar panels to match my battery bank?
If okorder.com/... yet, it's worth browsing the off-grid section. 8 peak equivalent sun hours a day on average is very achievable with tracking, but are you sure you really want to spend on tracking? It's a lot of trouble and expense - might be cheaper just to get more panels. Also be aware that when you have a lead-acid battery bank capable of (say) 000 Ah, that is the capacity that the batteries could supply as a one-shot deal. If you ever took that much from them, they would be ruined. Typically, you would try to take only 20% of the capacity before recharging, although some batteries let you take 50%, with reduced life. Have you considered wiring the batteries as 36 volts? There would be more efficiency, and less problems with equalizing the batteries when charging. Unless 2 volts is really the output that you need most. Sorry to redirect you, but I can't recommend that forum too highly. Lots of considerations.
Q:Solar Panel System at Harbor Freight?
Solar Panel through charge controller to battery, battery to inverter, inverter to devices. a 75 watt panel would be enough to trickle charge a battery that is NOT being used to keep it at full charge. The average home requires 4000 watts MINIMUM. This would require MANY, LARGER panels, charge controller, a battery stack, and at least LARGER inverter (preferably 2, 2000 watt inverters, unless you want to REALLY get expensive!)
