Q:Bathroom needs floor tile.?
Yes you ll have to pull the stool up and depending on what you sub flooring is now will depend how you treat the stool and wax ring and flange later. There isn t a stock answer with the info you gave. Some times the flange is raised enough to accommodate raising the floor with tile and a 1/2 cement board( if needed). If the flooring is on a slab them the tile will go right up to the flange and stool set atop with a normal or extra thick ring. In 20+ years I ve never had a tile crack under a stool. As long as there is the correct amount of thin set under the tile and any subflooring you add is properly put down,it ll be fine. Stools don t have to be tight tight bolted down just firmly snugged up . Almost ( almost ) any tile will work in a bathroom situation , but get a slip resistant type, one with at least a class III rating is my recommendation Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. Q:Floor tiles pop up?
You didn't mention what type of tiles (ceramic, vinyl, etc.) Vinyl pop up because the glue did not adhere properly, applies to both spread mastic and self adhesive. Surface prep is usually where the mistake is made. If the fault is that of the adhesive, the manufacturer often will make some amends. Ceramic usually pops up because the floor is uneven, or the tile was not seated correctly in the quick set. If some effort of was expended for surface prep, this is not the usual cause (this type of flooring has some degree of forgiveness related to surface prep). Future avoidance requires clean working conditions and following all instructions of the manufacturers of whose products you are using. (quick and easy cheat to repair=liquid nails, to glue tile down in place-hopefully before you applied grout!)
Q:question about installing vinyl tile?
Sorry, read here yesterday that the vinyl tile adhesive will not adhere to ceramic tiles well but I'm not sure that's true and you cannot put any vinyl tiles over the ceramic tiles anyway because of the grout joints. There needs to be a very good smooth surface everywhere for any type of vinyl tiles or sheet vinyl flooring. The vinyl will sink into every grout line/joint and break as well as look terrible too. You will need to install some plywood underlayment over the existing ceramic tile first to give you a smooth sub-floor (most likely the 1/2 inch thick plywood). Or you could remove the existing ceramic tile and all the grout patch any rough /or uneven places on the existing plywood sub-floor and then install the new tile. Now you can put vinyl tiles over the wood sub-floor. There may be some uneven places or rough places where you'd need to use some floor patch /or floor leveler first. They make different size styles of floor transitions where the two floors meet so to give you a nice transition and look (if the kitchen floor is left the same or you installed underlayment and new tile).
Q:Cleaning tiles?
Kaboom grout cleaner. Not tub and tile. There is to different ones. They both are very good. If you can find the Kaboom grout cleaner It will do all of it. Other wise use hot water and Just a cap full of the tub and tile cleaner from kaboom ,
Q:Tile on top of Laminate flooring?
Go to a store that sells flooring pick out what you like then ask them for advice. You do not have to purchase that day so tell them you need to save money and may have to do the job yourself. They should be able to tell you on the floor you pick out if you can install that type or if you need to pick out something more user friendly
Q:How about a simple tiles? Good quality
"water". The water droplets on the back of the tiles, the water spread after the slow density of the tiles, as the top grade.
Q:Can I lay linoleum over asbestos tile in the basement?
Sure you can lay linoleum over the tile, but instead of removing the loose tile I suggest you glue them back. Liquid Nails will do the job. By all means ware a mask while working with the asbestos tile. Be careful about what type linoleum you buy because it can have some asbestos in it, but not at a hazardous amount. Go to the web page below its very informative. Ever who you get the linoleum from make sure you tell them what you are applying it to. Be sure to ask about what type of notched trowel to use and the mystic. If there are large seams between the tile make sure you get enough mystic down into them so you want see their indention's when the mystic drys and shrinks. To really be safe cover over the tile with 1/4 or 3/8 inch ply then put your linoleum down.
Q:How do I get grout mastic off the top of tiles?
there are some all pourpose tile cleaners that cater to these type of problems, some have acidic contents and cannot be used on marble tiles however. it is important that you know the tile and check the lables of any proguct u purchase or use to c if it is compatible. for tips on removing stains and gout see the source link
Q:bathroom tile question?
in case you're applying great 1ft sq. tiles, and your chum did a foul interest on the the mosaic tiles i does not propose doing it. the load of the tiles could loosen the the smaller tiles inflicting the bigger tiles to fall. this may be risky in a tub or bath section. The tiles could shatter leaving sharp little shards of tile everywhere, alongside with interior the flesh of everyone interior sight. i replaced into going to place sixteen x sixteen tiles in my bathe section, and a contractor suggested I greater constructive be useful the wall above the bathe is shelter because of the fact if one got here loose and hit me interior the top it does not be sturdy. I went with little a million x a million tiles on the ceiling with greater tiles on the wall. despite you submit is in basic terms going to be as shelter as what's in the back of it. in basic terms my opinion, yet for safeties sake, i could get rid of the previous tile and start up over. bear in mind, there is by no skill adequate time or funds to do it suitable the 1st time, yet there is often adequate time and funds to do it over!!!
Q:grout haze on glass tile?
I swear by a product reported as Goo long gone. It has a tendency to do away with even the main sticky messes. i might think of the haze is a skinny layer of dried glue. you additionally can try organic vinegar and newspaper. That works properly on glass to scrub it.
