Q:Selecting same floor tile for kitchen and rest of living area?
Golden Desire tile back splash or close. kitchen light Tile . throughout the living area some thing that blends but not off the wall to the kitchen floor.
Q:tiling with 16x16 tiles in kitchen that is 14x22?
Flexbond has the same consistency as other thin sets. So it isn't any harder to work with. As far as applying it to the back of the tiles and the floor, I typically don't. If you have high or low spots in the sub floor, use an appropriate floating material to feather those spots out before you lay any tile. You can use something as simple as a 4' level and just lay it on the floor moving it in every direction to look for high/low spots. That is the only reason to apply it to the back side, to fill low spots. Use a 1/2 notched trowel to spread the flexbond. The key is to not make it too soupy when you mix it. If you do, the thin set tends to drop some, typical to air out of a balloon (if that makes sense to you). That will be what makes tiles not adhere fully. You can tell this by tapping on the tile the next day. You will here the hollow sound. If you have that scenario, remove that tile and reset it before grouting. Here's a tip to make the grouting easier. Keep a bucket of water and sponge with you as you lay the tile. Wipe the excess flexbond off the tiles and from the spots between the tiles where the grout will be. If the flexbond is down 1/4 from the top of the tile, that's fine.
Q:cracks in my bathroom floor tile?
Yup she crayz ! Bad tile guy ! I don't know what cause there lot he could of done to mess it up or the framers ,plumers, there not any thing u did I'm sure of that ! Well if u can't get out of it the good new It's a small bath sounds like an u could do a better job for not that much . Well not enuff thin set ,he used mastic, plumer cut jous, bad framing, not ataching to jous, dry mixed thin set , dust on tiles, wet tiles when installing , I'm sure there's more , not ur fault!
Q:Tiling the plane? need help asap?
BA AAAB BABBBA <---Top of A cross is right of middle of B cross! ABABAAAB BAAABABB BBABBBAB This pattern continues in both directions indefinitely. This forms a staircase which is two letters wide and one letter drop at each step. these can fit together perfectly. What I described has a natural 2 right-1 down pattern (from center of cross to center of cross) and a 1 right- 2 up pattern. The slopes of -1/2 versus 2 are perpendicular to one another, but do not give reflective possibilities (I don't think). Rotations by 90 degrees and slides do occur and I think these are all possibilities. The rotations can be centered at several points.
Q:Floor Tiling?
let the first slot be filled with a tile covering the whole breadth. then the remaining slots can be filled in f(n-1) ways. again if the first slot be covered in 1ft /3ft way then the remaining slots may be filled in f(n-3) ways. so in my opinion f(n)=f(n-1)+f(n-3)
Q:Terra cotta roof tiles?
here in the uk we dont use shingles ..not man enough to last ..so we have clay ..concrete ..and terra cotta roof tiles ...no point in putting on a roof covering unless it gonna last at least 100 years ..out roof tiles have hooks at top that sit behind the tile lathe ...most tiles are not actually nailed ..most are every 3 or 5 rows ..i have worked on dozens of roofs where not one was nailed ..the roof angles and tile weight prevent them from moving ..we fix with either galvanised or copper nails
Q:Back splash - do we seal before travertine tile is put on the wall?
Put the back splash tile on - then take a sponge and apply sealer to tile. Do not get sealer on edges that grout will fill in - put just on surface of tile. This will keep grout from sticking into small holes/dips in surface of tile. Let sealer dry good - then grout. Apply blue painters tape to edge of top up against wall to keep grout from getting all over the top. Apply about 2-3 strips of 2 blue painters tape here and also on any edges of wall cabinets/window trim etc. After grout is done and cleaned up - Apply grout sealer. Set first row of wall tile on a yardstick placed on the surface of the top. This will give you an even grout line starting off on the bottom. Use a *fast grab adhesive which will keep tile from sliding around. Take off any electrical covers and apply black electricians tape around the sides of the terminals on these receptacles/switches. Do a good job - take your time.
Q:Dose anyone know any decorative tile srtists?
Hi! okorder.com/ Hope this helps you. Best wishes!
Q:Saltillo Tile?
You don't say why you need to strip and reseal. Is it because of general wear and tear stains? Food stains? grease? Before you invest any time/money in it, try this: Get a Vapor Steam Cleaner!!! I have saltillo tiles in 40% of my house and was looking at stripping and resealing. I laid the tile in the first place and I knew it was going to be work to strip and reseal, then I started reading about Vapor Steam cleaners. They are very popular in Europe (homes tend to have more tile than floor carpeting) and are amazing. Basically they are machines (they look like canister vacuums) that heat plain old water to about 300 degrees, with a pressure gauge up to 65 psi. They come with a lot of attachments, including a nozzle that I used on the grout that has made my tile floors look like they were just put in. You never have to use any cleaner other than water ever again. Best thing is you can use this to clean EVERYTHING! Your oven, your bathtub, your windows, your countertops. It is far more reasonable than stripping/resealing. I got mine from a company in Jupiter Florida called Vapor Steam Products. The model I have is the TR5. For a little over $400 you will have a vapor steam cleaner that you can use throughout your house. The first time I used it on the tile I saw a huge difference. The second time, it was like they were brand new. Then you can just put on a product like Armstrong Tile polish which will make them glossy. You can also use these on area carpets and mattresses and they are the only thing that will KILL dustmites - though they are not vacuum cleaners. And just a word of advice, I did a lot of research and Hoovers and Bissel have very low-end versions of these, and trust me they don't even come close. All of my friends thought I had my tiles stripped and resealed and now they're all going out and getting these. Try this, and save your back and your bank account. Good luck.
Q:Laying new tile in my laundry room help?
These tiles are self sttick, so no other glue is needed. However, the surface of the floor must be clean, dry, and smooth for the tile job to last. Be sure to follow installation instructions carefully. Personally, anywhere water is involved, (bath, kitchen, laundry,) the less joints that water can penetrate, is the better solution. Self stick tiles will no hold up to an overflowing sink or toilet.
