Q:Asbestos ceiling tile?
No way to be absolutely certain without examination. My guess is 95% that does not. Take a tile into a hardware store/home center and ask there. If they all look at you with confused looks, wait outside for a contractor or two to walk by and ask them. Handling asbestos isn't a death sentence. If unsure- wear a dust mask while handling the tile. It is the asbestos dust particles from it breaking up, that you breath in that could cause a problem (again- it's not guaranteed to harm you).
Q:Can I use polyester resin to make shower tiles?
If you have a tile size , sure make the mold just a hair smaller than the tile. Same if your just replacing a few and making the bottle cap tile as a deco tile. Just use a white thin set and completely smooth coat over the back so you see a all white back ground through your deco.. The use of a extra modified thin set is required because this wouldn t be much different than setting glass tiles. GL
Q:major issue replacing bathroom tile?
Once you pull up the tiles and the old and get to the original subfloor you can put your backerboard directly on that. You don't need an extra layer of plywood. If you feel the subfloor is not sufficient you need to replace it too. If the subfloor is sturdy it is okay to put down a layer of thinset, then put down your backer, then screw the backer and fill the seams with thinset and the appropriate seam tape. Then lay your tiles like normal.
Q:how to lay tile in bathroom?
Many factors to start with. Are you on slab or wood sub floor? Slab you can generally go straight over. Wood sub flooring usually need another another substrate to beef it up Make it stronger. Tile codes call for a minimum total 1 1/4 total substrate to support tile. Most often ( but there are a few other ways) an 1/2 cement board needs to be installed. There are proper procedures to do this and not following these simple ways of installation can lead to tile failure. Depending on the tile size , there is a proper size trowel that spreads the thin set ( cement based tile adhesive). By planning ahead and laying out the room to get the best cuts all around, the tile is layed out and glued down. This is just the tip of the ice berg in the proper procedures but it gives you a start. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q:How many pieces of a tiles are there in general?
Look at the size of your brick! The specifications of each brick are not the same! The number of installed is not the same!
Q:Want to tile a kitchen floor?
The first thing is I need to know is this laminate glue or snap together (do you want to save this floor ?) if you donot care this is how to remove your laminate First off figure which way the laminate is started this will give you a good starting point. this should just fold up ward ____/ like that once you start you should be able to take up thold laminate in 1 hour. make sure to remove all your wall base first., that is what holds down the laminate. After that is up you will have to determine what type of underlayment is on the subfloor. The most common is durock if you are putting down ceramic . If it is vinyl tiles you then should use luan (1/4 thick use the same thickness for the durock). You have to measure you length and width of the floor striking chalk lines to determine where your starting point is ( you do this with either type of floor). If you need more instruction e mailme.
Q:Installing a glass tile backsplash?
Dry wall is fine and you might want to use a mastic so they don t slide.. Proper setting of the tile is important.. I gently beat the tile in w/ my grout float while I m setting them.. Full coverage is also a must since you can sometimes see thru some glass tiles..I ve never had a problem with this though..
Q:Which trowel for stone tiles?
The size of tiles makes a difference in the trowel, say if you where using a smaller trowel it needs less mortar or glue so you would use a smaller notched trowel, for larger tiles you use larger sized trowels, because of needing more mortar or glue to stick to . also they use different trowels with vinyl flooring as well. Id contact the place where you got the trowel and make sure you have the right 1 for the job your doing. hope this helps ........
Q:Shower was leaking, when I removed the tiles, the wood underneath the shower was wet?
Is this tile in the shower? If so you need to pull up the tile and have a tile membrane installed on the floor to waterproof the area. If it is outside the shower the wood should be treated wood or it will bulge and crack the tile in the future. If it is treated wood then you can just lay replacement tile down. If they know what they are doing and have the appropriate help, then any tile job can be done in one day.
Q:Doing Tile Work Procedures?
Thinset is one type of adhesive. You use white for light tile and grey for dark tile. If you get it be sure to get the dry type and not the premixed. The grout goes on after the tile has been installed for 24 hours. It sealls the spaces between the tile. There are two types one has sand in it the other doesn't. You use the sand type if the spaces between the tiles are more than 1/8. The other type doesn't have sand and is used for tiles that are close together like marble and granite.
