Q:im making this really cool projecr for my moms birthdayy and i need a few tiles. plain tiles. where can i get them individually and cheap? ‘ how much will it cost? (per tile)
Most tiles are sold by the square foot,(s/f). But most places like Home Depot and Lowes will sell the small tiles , like the 4 inch tile per piece. I ve seen them as low as 8 cents a pc for basic white and cream ( bone colored) . Matte and high gloss both. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q:My home decoration just finished tiles to clean up the tiles when there is a cement with a damp cloth has been wiped out how to do? (My family to buy all the tiles) Will you have nothing to hurt the tile method can be removed? Thank you!
Cement is alkaline, generally removed with acidic substances. Oxalic acid may not be acidic enough. Pour some vinegar up the effect will be better. Industrial hydrochloric acid can also be used after dilution, but to prevent corrosion of the tile itself. To try it a little bit. If hydrogen peroxide is not used, it is recommended to use stone-specific products, such as strong concentrated cleaning agent, PH value of 10.5 or so. This product can decompose the organic matter on the surface of the stone pollution, and can remove the surface type protective agent. If necessary, the cleaning agent can be mixed with the decontamination powder, which can extend the reaction time of the compound and adsorb the stain to the paste. Before using the compound, first test a small area inconspicuous, such as the corner, and to ensure that the stone surface will not be covered with dark flower marks. Clear the slight scratch operation is relatively simple, the market has a lot of polishing powder for sale. However, the use of polishing powder, most of the need to use a polishing machine or a single rub machine.
Q:I live in an apartment and ive never had floor tiles like these. There is concrete underneath but I think these are ceramic tiles on top.I have no clue what to use to bring back the shine.Any suggestions would be helpful
Try this mix. Take an almost empty of dishsoap ( palmolive works best), 1/3 cup borax and some water. mix it up and only use a little. take a scrub brush and get on your hands and knees and scrub. A little elbow greese will get them to shine. scrubbing a floor will also burn a ton of calories. this mix will also work on the sink, tub and shower. make sure to rinse with cold water real well.
Q:I am tiling my kitchen and My house was a prefab. and OLD. The plywood used was 1/2 (I measured it). what thickness of backboard/cement board should I use for under the tile and on top of the plywood? I was thinking 1/2 backerboard/cement board so there is 1 of subfloor under the tile. Do you think this is enough? Also, I am tiling around my cabinets, what do I do about the dishwasher? Do I tile around it? If I tile under it, it won‘t fit in the spot then. I was going to tile around it... I do have room to tile under the fridge though. There is space above.
All tile hand book guide lines require a MINIMUM of 1 1/4 total substrate thickness to do ceramic flooring. This is both the ATC and TCA guide line. ( America Tile Council and Tile Council of America.) Should be fine won t cut it with ceramic , you need an additional 1/2 ply cross layed, glued and well nailed or screwed w/ no seams lining up . Then an additional 1/2 inch substrate . This using a cement board in most cases. This must be thin setted down and nailed or screwed in the proper fashion. You asked about the thin setting the cement board down, all I ll tell you is that I follow all recommended guidelines to be safe and I ve never had a problem.. The reason for this is because the thin set allows for no gaps , holes or spaces for movment of the cement board for a firm solide base for tile.. The refridge should be moved out during all this and then brought back in several days after the grouting is done to allow a little extra time to have the thin set dry more because of the extra weight .. As far as your dishwasher , your locking it in because of the flooring change..There you ll have to make some choices.. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there.. GL
Q:i was wondering if it would be a good idea to use patio tiles or something similar as flooring for a bearded dragon tank, im thinking of getting one but there are a lot of different opinions on what to put on the floor for them, i thought of patio tiles, as theyre originally from rocky areas and they cant caause impation, if it isnt a good idea please offer alternitivesthnx:)x
There is many floorings you could use. If you want to use tiles, you could use slate tiles since they help retain heat, are easy to clean due to their smooth surface, and help file their nails. You could definitely use patio tiles just make sure to always keep your light on during the day and just in case, don't let it get cold during the night. Use a ceramic heat emitter during the night or you could use an under the tank heat pad to make sure. But other than that, it's perfect because it's just as good as slate tile. If you want other alternatives just in case you use calcium based sand if you really want. Repti carpet, paper towels, newspaper. Don't use indoor/ outdoor carpets though because they have little micro fibers that can coil around their toes and cut the circulation and eventually make their toes fall off.
Q:I have a bathtub that the bottom row of tiles are getting loose on the top portion. A few have come out.The row above seems ok.Can the bottom row be resealed or replaced without interfering with the upper tiles? If so how?
Yes you can just be patient and remove the loose tiles which should not be hard to do. The reason that they have turned loose is because of moisture behind the tiles. Be sure you have a good stable surface for the tiles that you put back to adhere to. You may have to lay a film of masonry of something to give you a solid surface to hold the replaced tiles. As for as glue, I would use a adhesive that is called F26 and it is multipurpose to reattach the tile. I will guarantee that those tile will never come off again.
Q:Ok.. what i mean is this. Let‘s say you have hard tile beside the toliet and water damaged occured. Once you press down on the tile you can actually feel the weakness in the tile.. Does this automatically determine bad subflooring or is it possible just bad tile, Can I just killz over the subflooring repaint and lay new tile?
Does the tile wobble? It could mean the adhesive under the tile has deteriorated because of water leaks. Can you get under the floor and look up?
Q:should I clean the tiles in my basement or is there not worry about it? Thanks
in my case, i like the basement to be kept dry and empty. what is so valuable about ceiling tile? you can keep them outside the house, they are part of garbage. if you want to repair the roof, buy new tile because of color matching. ceiling tile is porous and a good hiding place of germs. germs travel throughout the house from the basement because the house is warm
Q:How to calculate the area of the toilet and kitchen tiles
Such as the kitchen is 3 meters wide and 2.5 meters high. The area of the wall should be the circumference of the kitchen by height (2.5 + 2.5 + 3 + 3) * 3. = 33 and then remove the door and the window area is about 31 or so. Mainly look at your window size. The door area is basically a multi-square. Finally, the wall about 22 square feet up and down. The floor area is 7.5 square feet. Then use the wall area in addition to the area of the brick you choose. Such as: brick is 300 * 450 = 0.135. The ground is also true. The bathroom is so calculated.
Q:whats the best way to remove it??? Put it on bathroom tiles but it is all chipping off and doesnt look pretty
if you painted right over ceramic tile it should come off with a razor blade scraper -- if the paint is in the grout you may never get it off there-- not sure what type of paint you used -- some oil paints can be removed with laquer thinner or paint thinner ---
