Q:Which tile will work?
Why soak them? All normal tiles have a glazing on them and the glaze finish can be different to test the different stuff you want to test on them. You have bright glaze , matte glaze satin glaze. Some stone tiles with no glaze on them at all that might stain . Some stones you can seal w/a sealer to see how that works. Go to your local mom and pop type flooring store and tell them this is a school project and ask if they have any spare tile to give you. We helped many school projects over the years . Any questions you can e mail me thru my avatar. GL
Q:how do i get black grout stains off of white tile???
Dilute clorox bleach into a spray bottle (3 part water to 1` part bleach) and spray it on the grout. Wait 5 minutes and rinse. Cheap and effective.
Q:cheap way to redo a tiled bathroom?
You might try tile tattoos. They are easy to install and make your own pattern. Here's where I got mine.
Q:can tile be glued to formica?
I have done it and it was over 7 years ago and no problems at all. I even stand on the counter sometimes. First you will need to sand the formica with a coarse sandpaper followed by 2 coats of oil-based Kilz-It. When that it dry you are ready to thinset and lay your tiles.
Q:If there are 8 red tiles and 3 white tiles in pattern 1, 10 red tiles and 6 white tiles in pattern 2?
18 red and 18 white in 6 26 red and 30 white in10
Q:can wood flooring be installed over ceramic tile?
The tile doesn't have to come up. Float a thin coat of a latex floor float (Home Depot) over the tile and the wood is ready to install. If you choose a wood that is 3/8 thick you may not need to trim the doors. There needs to be at least a 3/4 space under the doors after the wood is installed. The baseboard needs to be taken up and re-installed after the wood. Under-cut the door jambs so the wood will slide under and look good.
Q:Grout Question - Foyer Floor and Hallway Ceramic Tile?
They missed a step....Use a good clear silicone caulking in the 'crack' where tile and grout meet wall. Otherwise, if for example, someone showers and gets water on the floor, it will get into this area, go under the tile and start to ruin the flooring under the tile. Mold and mildew can also grow in these wet areas. Molding trim only covers the edge of the tile giving it a neater more finished appearance, but it's still cosmetic...to protect, you need to seal or caulk around the outer edges of your flooring. You will also need to use a sealant on the grout between your new tiles as well, or the same problem can occur, as grout is porous and can absorb water and soapy liquids which then go down into the underflooring, and different liquids can stain the grout.
Q:Tile flooring options?
Installing a floor with that kind of precision is not easy. Any mismatch in elevation and you can end up with a sharp corner or edge to cut your foot as you walk along. Personally, I'd opt for the grout lines. But yes, I understand you don't want them. So I guess I shouldn't have even bothered answering because I do not answer your question. Sorry. Best of luck with your project. '')
Q:Tub surround tile layout questions?
Provided the tub is fairly level, start a full tile at the bottom and work up. Tile will look fine at a 5 or six foot level ( I prefer 5 ft.) Not every one has the same eye level so the strip will be fine. The tub surround will be a bit different too so what I suggest is measuring on the tub wall the tile heights and stand back and look at it. Use a pc of tape the approx width of the strip and tape it or draw it on the tub wall s prior to tiling. Will give you a better idea. Also take into account any fixtures you may put in such as a shampoo/soap shelf. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. I ve also have down 100s of tub surrounds. GL
Q:What size tile would work and look best?
if you are going for a mosaic look then 6x6 tiles would definitely be the answer, but there are more options with 12x12's especially if you want to mix and match materials.
