Vinyl rolls are sheet goods rolled in one piece to allow for seamless flooring. Tiles are boxed and set in place one at a time and is easier than installing sheet goods.

Basic tile installations, such as floors and backsplashes are perfectly fine for any homeowner. There is not much that can go wrong ( mainly Aesthetics) When is entails water related installations ( Wet areas). This is when a homeowner can get in over their heads. Water will find its way out if a stall is not properly prepped and waterproofed. I honestly would recommend hiring a professional. Just my opinion.

Wall tiles are much thinner and are designed for wall use only. When a floor tile is designed they are much thicker and have also been stressed to take a weight. As other contributors have said wall tiles generally have a smooth finish and are therefore slippy whereas wall tiles will always have some form of anti-slip format. I don't know where you got your wall tiles but most shops will be happy to take them back and exchange them for other products such as floor tiles.

Can you place a threshold down at the doorway to accommodate for this difference in height? And if the wood below the tile floor is not at least 1 in. thick then the flexing of the floor will always cause cracking of the grout lines if not the tiles them self. These are a couple things people overlook when wanting a tile floor. Good Luck
