Q:I am looking to build an aquarium, I figured if I do it myself I could save lots of money. I am looking to build about a 200 gallon. At pet stores I have seen aquariums approx. this size and they would sell for around $900. I have called local glass companies and gotten quotes for 3/8 thick tempered glass and just the glass is about $1000 dollars. Does anyone have suggestions or knowledge of building custom aquariums, where I could build my own for a fraction of the cost to buy a new one?
Do not use tempered glass for an aquarium, especially one so large. Tempered glass is much stronger than annealed (regular, non-tempered) glass, but it shatters. that is one of the major reasons for making glass tempered. When regular glass breaks, it cracks into large shards that can be sharp and dangerous. with tempered glass breaks, it generally makes a bizillion little chunks that are relatively dull. this is great for some things like glass doors or bathroom shelves. but imagine if this happens to your fish tank....water and sweet fishies all over the floor within an instant. :-)
Q:effects of rain, heat, pressure, snow
That largely depends upon what type of building materials you are using. For example, steel could rust in the snow given a long enough time. All building material will shrink and expand with temperature. Wood also shrinks and expands with the amount of moisture it has absorbed from its environment. If you are using wood composites (OSB, plywood, gluelam beams), the glue that holds the particles together can have problems when wet. That is why there is exterior grade and interior grade wood products. As far as glass, I believe that heat will increase the liquid-like properties of glass. Pressure will likely do the same. Cold will make it more brittle, but as a whole, I'd guess that glass is more stable than most other forms of building materials.
Q:Like one big glass enclosement over a farm. It would allow light through, stop excessive rain and bugs from destroying food. They can control the amount of water the plants get. They would save millions
What do you think a greenhouse is, essentially? Greenhouses are basically a glass enclosure over a piece of land. Greenhouse growers control the environment just like you suggest, but it's not a panacea. Not only do insects and disease still get in, but it's very expensive to grow crops in greenhouses. Thats why you only see high-value crops grown in them. Things like veggies, ornamentals, etc. Crops like corn/wheat/soybeans? you'll never see them grown under glass on any kind of scale, it's just too expensive, relative to the value of the crop produced.
Q:how many 2009 glass top ford mustangs were built ?
well ford has only decided to build 45,000 2009 Ford Mustangs this year because it has already sold over 44 thousand cars in a 5 month period. The glass top is an optional trim on the vehicle that you can convert your convertible to glass top for $1,995. hope that helps
Q:Building glass specification is that set?
(JGJ 113-2009), "Construction Safety Glass Management Regulations" (Development and Reform Commission [2003] No. 2116), "Specification for Design, Construction and Acceptance of Aluminum Alloy Doors and Windows", "Regulations for the Application of Building Glass" (JGJ 113-2009) (DBJ15-30-2002).
Q:Ps can make the effect of architectural glass?
Or do not think PS is not good at the field, to do other good things, after all, his most important is to adjust the color.
Q:Architectural glass film is generally used to brand which is more ah
According to the actual situation of the correct choice of architectural glass film, OKorder Chang Bao construction staff engaged in architectural glass film for several years, very good
