Q:I have a four cylinder ranger with manual transmission. The top pulley was making a squeaking sound the other day and stopping and going. The car stalled out so I had to give it gas for about a minute, and this has happened several more times in the past week. And the car is making a somewhat loud rumbling/clanking noise, which I'm guessing is the bearings on the water pump. So my question is how much will a new water pump cost, I've seen prices quoted on here from $150-$700. Also, it was in the mechanic the other week and I asked him to check the ac compressor and he said it was fine. Thanks
Why not call your mechanic for an estimate? He's (or she's) already familiar with your vehicle. Also, they may determine that it's something other than you water pump.
Q:I am going to replace the timing belt , tesioner and idler bearing on my 2000 daewoo leganza. I noticed some of the kits have water pumps too. It is likely to break like the timing belt?
if your going that far to replace the timing belt, sure why not?
Q:I'm not familiar w/ this model but need to swap out the water pump. I have no pictures or publications. Anything in particular to watch out for? Is this a pushrod engine w/ a water pump mounted in the front center of the engine and driven by a serpentine belt? Thanks in advance.
You probably have the 3.1 v-6, so the pump is not really hard to change, and is a belt driven pump.
Q:trying to instal pump and I can't get fan blade off It is a1999 chev 5,7 vortex
As John M said, they make special wrenches to remove the fan clutch from the water pump. It can be a pain in the... When I did mine on my 97, I ended up removing the fan and pump as one piece from the truck, then had to weld the impeller of the water pump to the housing to keep it from spinning, then use a big wrench on the fan clutch to get it loose!!! It was way too tight. Hopefully yours isn't that tight, but maybe it gave you an idea on how to get it apart. Good luck
Q:i have changed water pump, radiator and thermotast and it still overheat
(In addition to the above suggestions) Are the hoses good? Old hoses can collapse, blocking water flow. They should have been changed with the radiator, but not everyone does. Has the radiator fan been checked out to be sure it's working properly? If the fan isn't working properly, enough air might not get through to cool it down properly. Is it actually boiling over, or is the temp gage just showing it hot? I ask because it could be a faulty temp sensor. I'll assume that there's no debris between the radiator and condenser since the radiator has been changed out already. This should also mean that nothing is in front of the condenser blocking airflow.
Q:Hi. This car is 66 chevy but the motor is a 1984 chevy 350 4bolt main stroked to 383. I think its an '84, might be an '85. I need to replace fan clutch and water pump.... the fan clutch is bad but manufacturer of the replacement parts says you must do water pump and fan clutch together. Is the pump a 66 chevy pump or a 350 small block pump? What about the fan clutch? Ok, and please help with motor mounts. do I use mounts specific for 66 model or specific to the motor?

Q:About 3 weeks ago our water stopped. We replaced the switch at the pump and it was fine. Today when I was running water, it stopped again. I went and flipped the breaker on it, but it still didn't come on. About 20 minutes later, it started working again. Have you ever had this happen or do you know what the problem could be?
You mentioned that you flipped the breaker...was the breaker tripped? If so...then your pump is overheating, and tripping the breaker. Possibly some bare wires rubbing together in the well pipe might cause it too. If the breaker isn't tripping...then you may have a problem with the well itself. If it's going dry...the pump will shut itself down when the water stops flowing through it...rather than sit there and run until it burns itself up! Hopefully it's just a bad breaker! :-) Good Luck!!
Q:For a Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up. Not taking it to a mechanic.Already got the new pump. Got part of the engine off.Dont exactly have the right tools to make the job go fast but would like some tips on how to make it go faster..
If you've got the fan off you have the hardest part done on that vehicle, follow the manuals and line the parts up as you remove them.Be sure to put the bolts with the part they belong to and install them in the reverse order you took them off.
Q:So I need to make a human powered water pump... Does anyone know how to make one? Any websites that could show me would be nice.MORE DETAILS:The pump is on the ground...it needs to pump water from a reservoir into another reservoir that is two meters high and two metres across from where the pump is... The pump needs to be handheld too. What should I use and any good plans on how to make it?
The simplest manual pump is the lever-arm pump. This is just an elongated cylindrical reservoir, a valve casing, and a pump chamber in a linear arrangement. A piston within the pump chamber is connected to a link, and a handle which is used to pump the water. You can make a simple one by converting an ordinary bicycle pump. Attach an input hose to the air inlet, and an output hose to the pressurized air output for the tire. A good way to develop plans on how to make it would be to visit your local sporting shop or auto parts shop and look over their pumps. .
Q:For a basement water pump that controls the toilet, shower and sink--- does it always have to stay plugged in and running??? I heard it make a weird noise and shut it off immediately.. Any help appreciated!!!
No this is normal when you flush it should come on
