- steve, when solvent cementing pvc ( sch 40 ) all you need is deburr the edge of the pipes, use a good quality primer ( generally purple ) and a good quality glue. apply both to pipe and fittings and press in, hold for about 30 seconds and done - since your dealing with pressure, you must use pressure sch 40 fittings , not dwv pvc drain fittings you must let the fittings set or dry for at least 4 to 6 hrs before turning thw water back on. if you do this, there should be no reasons for a leak, best luck

- If you mean the tub spigot leaks some water when you have pulled up the tab that enables your shower, this is normal. It is simply a flap that diverts the water and it is not meant to seal tightly.
